Any religion in 2014 that exorts its members to do as much is wrong to that extent - be it Judaism, Christianity, Islam, or any other.

@muganda, as far Education is concerned, Islam, revolutionary support, gave women the due right and status in the days of ignorance, 1400 years ago.

Islam is devoted to modernize, the thinking, our living, our seeing, our hearing, our feeling, and striving for the women's upliftment and participation in the society.

The women's rights in Islam should be judged according to authentic sources, and not what individual Muslims do, or what a Muslim society does. Remember there are different Muslim societies, some maybe close to Islam, some maybe far away from Islam.

It's the duty of everybody to seek knowledge. Don't be "imaha", when people say you says yes, when they say no, you say no. Don't just follow.

Islam believes and equality of men and women. Equality does not mean identicality. In Islam the roles of man and women are complementary, it's not conflicting, it's that of partnership.

Islam promotes educational rights of everyone, including girls. The first guidance from Quran to human kind was not to pray, not to give charity, not to fast, but it was to read.

Islam gives utmost emphasize to education. The prophet ordained the parents to gave education to daughters. And after she is married, it was the duty of husband to give her education.

There's hadith which says women one day women asked prophet why he surrounds himself with men, and if he will allow them to ask him questions. Prophet allowed this and sent many swahaba to give women education.

Imagine 1400 years ago when women were ill-treated, only used, Islam asked women to be educated.

We have many examples of women scholars.
Example is Aisha. She gave guidance even to the swahabas. One famous student said he had not seen any greater scholar than Aisha in field of Quran,
obligateory duties, lawful and unlawful matters, literature and poetry, Arabic history, field of math e.g. inheritance

She narrated many hadiths. She was the most intellectual woman of that time.

Just because Islam says that every woman should be educated, will you call such women's rights in Islam as modernizing or outdated?

The "radicals" should not raise our/your sensibility towards muslims (it is their EXACT intention), the lady in the picture is a muslim, pleading against robbers and rapist who are using some brand of radicalized thinking, as the two erstwhile "permanently userable radicals". The fact of the matter is MY RELIGION should scarce INTERFERE with yours because humans can communicate through words, when you introduce FORCE & VIOLENCE, you are obviously dumb enough NOT to communicate properly whether you spend hours typing away about your fundamentalism islam, christianity, ahteism, and in my case too hesitant to profess! But don't ARGUE like a fool while quoting MOSES who is waaaaaay tooooo intelligent, and who came with the PLAN from above written:- Thou shall not kill, Thou shall not steal, Thou shall not commit adultry....and you are CONSTANTLY DEFENDING..rapist, murderers, thieves..in the name of "some brand" of "your own self cooked religion" MOSES was a planner, and his PLAN was TO ACHIEVE PEACE amongst people on earth over the years, hiyo tu, HIS WAS A TEN POINT PLAN that is simple enough to understand, it is a plan NOT, Islam, Xtian, etc, just a plan for everybody, he was trying to make PEACE amongst savages! Kwa hivo tolerance!
