The KNCHR commissioner is like Caesar,s wife. He must be beyond reproach. Omar should go back to 07 and see the REAL cause of the chaos: hatred. We had chants like 41 tribes against 1, Wameiba, wamepata vya bure etc...but I agree, these appointments thing is the biggest downside of the Kibaki era. I agree with @nostop that emilio was the best bet to stop the ukabila dragon.too bad he fed it.

are all these guys going for Hassan Omar's neck seeing this same point? or do they choose not to see this...Agreed, Hassan may communicate better, but the truth is out there...it may pain the affected individuals, but Baks let us down totally!!!

Somebody tell Mr. Omar that, with all due respect, i, a kikuyu like any other, is suffering the same high prices of food, fuel, lack of cooking gas, low pay, traffic jams, the al shabaab threat, pains of a strong shilling, and everything else that my luo, kisii, luhya, somali neighbor may be experiencing.

Trying to insinuate that it was the kikuyu tribe that benefited from kibaki's regime is unfortunate because then, if this trend continues, some nut-head who decides not to think beyond the name will kill, maime, torch and destroy me, my family and property in the name of either "haki yetu" or "revenge" for the "inequality" in resource distribution.... not thinking that i had to endure the same things he/she went through without any extra benefits/help but my sweat!

I hope someone understands why i would be bitter if I am reflected in the light that Mr. Omar is trying to shed in the name of justifying who should or shouldnt be the next president. The other day, we heard it all in the political quarters about the small matter of "muslims" heading which and which government organ when we had some vetting going on ... did this guy come out and raise issues? http://kenyauptodate.blo...o-block-polls-team.html

Anyhow, i completely agree with him when it comes to energy, security and finance ministries... i believe given the experience we had in 2007/2008 it would be unfortunate for any head of state to allow such to happen. A balance is clearly needed And if you dig deeper, you will realise that this is the case with all ministries depending on who is at the helm.... and even corporate companies in general...... still very unfortunate!

@ Nostop.. Omar's agenda is Kikuyu's and not tribalism in whole. Like i said in my previous post, both MK and RAO have previously been accused of appointing their tribesmen/relatives almost everywhere in govt lakini huyu jamaa anajifanya its a kikuyu thing. Talk of MK as Pres. and Kiraitu as Min of Energy na si mambo ya kabila yake.

Cant wait to see him leave office. KNCHR is not a branch of ODM. The orange movement caused the 2007 chaos by whipping up anti-Kikuyu sentiment and got away with it and even ended up looking like saints! Reminds me of this time when attacking Kibaki was voicing ones democratic rights while attacking Raila was tribalism! Philip Ochieng tells us that Kenyans do not understand the word tribalist without the adjective Kikuyu. In short, as much as Emilio has failed, Omar should vacate office as his position is delicate and needs a man who is seen as neutral.

@hunderwear please do not allow yourself into that trap. Anti-kikuyu sentiments in this country have always been close to the ground and any politician or populist will be trying to play them to achieve their selfish objectives. We saw it happen in the run-up to the last polls with a disastrous outcome.

I know hassan closely back from our college days at moi in the late 90s and he can be described as many things but he is not a tribalist. Trust me am also trying to make sense of his bold and brutal comments in that article. As a kikuyu they leave me with a bitter taste in my mouth but I refuse to fall in to their trap by reacting in the way they expect.

Remember prior to 2002 when majimbo talk used to be used to silence kikuyus politically and then mwangi kiunjuri led a group of kikuyu mps in declaring that they actually support a majimbo system. The majimbo talk ended right there. Its called reverse psychology.

Kibaki has given the kikuyu bashers plenty of ammunition. The big question is; will kikuyus take a defensive and isolationist stance again? Will the community box itself into a corner once again?

Greek philosopher george santayana once said; " those who do not remember their history are condemned to repeat it".
