The man was at my office earlier in the day and had told me he had no intention of going to the demonstrations. Anyway, I thank God because the police seem to have beaten him professionally and he may have had no major injuries.

But now that it's my friend who's been beaten, what next? If I have any anger, then I don't know who to direct it to.

Citizens should be able to protest and even accept death for their political aspirations, but in this case the whole story is a puzzle that has me dazed.

After Mosoti came out of my premises I received warning that some of the protesters were moving around forcing people to close shops. I closed my place quickly and went out to see what was happening... and there was Wanjiku on the street mocking herself. Fighting a battle that's not even hers. Her cries will neither stem corruption nor ensure even a fair and just party nominations.

We're being fooled big time, and how to fight or even claim what's rightfully ours- a decent life in which we can enjoy our most fundamental freedoms- is something beyond us apparently. And I have seen no political faction with any intention to help Wanjiku out in this respect.

Trully Boni my friend, and I, form the 'unpeople'. Little wonder I have no anger.

These are facts that get in the way of a good story in the mature republic of wazua, to paraphrase an elder, 'nkt'

If Jubilee are confident that they can win 2017 fairly then they should yield to reforms and ensure that the elections are seen as clean and free of rigging. If they refuse then they must be hell bent on rigging.

This is what is contributing to tension. Voting is an emotional issue to Kenyans. People don't want their votes wasted or cheated or stolen. Much of the fracas that happened in 2008 was an emotional reaction to the perception that the election was stolen.

If an election is seen as rigged, you risk trouble in the future.

For peace-sake, Jubilee should just be transparent. If all our future elections are seen as potentially rigged, you are just asking for trouble.

Jubilee now have the power to assure all Kenyans that the next election will be clean and free of rigging. In essence they have the power to ensure peace reigns. Peace is important for this country's development.

If Jubilee does not create the perception of a clean election, then they are putting their selfish vested interests ahead of the country's best interests.

And don't fool yourselves that you will always be in power. One of these days you could very well be the one whose votes are stolen.

Both Cord and Jubilee agree that reforms are necessary. They differ on the approach.
