Statistically speaking, flying is far safer than driving and with 10 more years of productivity I doubt many if any would choose to go into early retirement

KQ chief operating officer tenders resignation- One more senior executive has left troubled national carrier Kenya Airways, signalling the continuation of management restructuring that began in earnest last year. Yves Guibert, the carrier’s chief operating officer (COO), has given notice of intention to leave within the next two months, adding to the list of top managers who have resigned or sent home in the past 12 months. Kenya Airways chief finance officer Alex Mbugua, Rick Sine (fleet director), Gerard Clarke (commercial director) and Alban Mwendar (the human resources director) have left the company since last October amidst a wave of turbulence punctuated by pilot strikes. Mr Mwendar, who the board had requested to stay on to oversee the ongoing rationalisation programme, announced last week that he was exiting the airline to pursue other interests. Kenya Airways also sent Alex Avedi, the director of corporate quality, safety, security and environment and Captain Paul Mwangi, the director flights operations, on a leave of absence for an unspecified duration to facilitate dialogue between the airline and its disgruntled pilots. @maka that is a big blow indeed, but allegations around over his role in assigning agents authority to discount ticket prices.. For those who did not know Mr. Guibert. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Mathematics, and a degree in Business and Administration from Paris Sorbone University. Between 1989 and 1995, Mr.Guibert worked for Air France as an Assistant Station Manager and would replace any Airport Manager during their absence due to his excellent adaptability and interpersonal skills to adapt to numerous airports set up and various cultures. Between 1998 and 2001, he worked as the Station Manager in Johannesburg, where he achieved many great things among them being to open South Africa for Virgin Atlantic and managed the operation. In 2001, he was promoted to an Airport Manager (West Africa) where he motivated a team and a territory unexposed to Virgin Atlantic. In 2005 to 2006, he was the Head of Grounds Services and was the part of senior management team. He was Director of Customer Services from 2006 until his appointment as Kenya Airways Ground Service Director.
