There was a movement against BAT/tobacco with higher taxes, more regulation, crackdown on ads, etc. As a non-smoker, I thought smoking would reduce substantially with the higher prices on cigarettes but I under-estimated the will of smokers to smoke come what may.
I thought BAT's profits would stagnate but was I wrong... Profits have been increasing and with the 100% Dividend Payout.. it just gets better.
A well-managed PRIVATE firm.
*IMHO, a nasty & unhealthy habit and even if I were a shareholder, I would encourage people NOT to smoke* LOL. This is me exactly. My other regret is that I did not buy it after. Always thought it was expensive, at 300, 400, 500, and so on to the present. Same story with Safaricom Pole to you. Hope the point taken, lesson learned.. @vvs is a master in premature speculation Thanks. Wait, is KQ over 80% of your portfolio? You've really bet it all on it haven't you? Wow Yes I have.. Though overall portfolio of tangible wealth, it's less than 4% Csn I ask how old you are?

does 'other interests'= politics? If true then shows how lucrative politics is that he would leave a high flying job with great benefits and career path for politics! Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
