Which star has Manutd attracted? Valdez? Falcao with a dodgy knee?
We all know that De Maria's choice was PSG.

Eish. Hata kama ni uchungu...pewa kool aid. Players may have their choice but that is life. They play where they are wanted. How many world class players have played for RM and Barca only to leave after a couple of seasons?

De Gea will eventually end up at Real Madrid, it might not necessarily be next season or the one after but it will happen. Man Utd will definitely offer him a bumper contract extension which will probably be signed by De Gea but that will just delay the inevitable and will not stop Real from pursuing him. Right now they need a quality Keeper to succeed Casillas and the Man Utd Keeper is the best candidate.

@Mwenza....CR7's move to Real was not as pleasant as you would like us to believe, Man Utd even filed a tampering complaint with FIFA over Madrid's alleged pursuit, but FIFA declined to take any action....Blatter would later on "describe the situation as modern slavery, comments Ronaldo agreed with".

Btw the decision to stay for one more year was CR7's, its actually Carlos Quieroz who convinced SAF to let him leave. I hope you recall these comments from SAF "Do you think I would enter into a contract with that mob? Absolutely no chance. I would not sell them a virus".

Don't attribute other people's posts to me. Where have I mentioned the mercurial CR7 in my posts?

@ Maich, the point is that when Madrid set their sights on De Gea (and they will), he'll answer the call.

The script should therefore be pretty simple.....tie the boy to an irresistible long term bumper contract complete with an obscene buy-out clause.

Buy-out clause is a double edged sword because it comes with a hefty end of contract payment.
Keepers earn relatively low wages and very few get GBP100K pw. A good team can thrive with an average keeper. Liverpool won CL with Dudek in goal and Brazil have never had a classy goalie.

Who said so? Kwani kuna template ya contracts. If a team want to put a buy out clause with no end of contract payment that is exactly what happens. In most cases the buy out clauses go hand in hand with salaries. If you want to increase my buy out fee, increase my salary. We both win. Otherwise let me run down my contract at the current salary and we see how that works out for you!

Most teams would rather sell you at a "loss" than wait for the end of your contract to pay end of contract payment if any exists. In any case you will probably be past your best. If you are not, they simply extend your contract.

List the players you know who have EVER been paid end of contract fee. Waiting...

Last time I checked any player with class think Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Platini,Ronaldinho,Hugo Sanchez, Hristo Stoichov, Romario, Bebeto, Figo et al played for the five teams; The Milan clubs, Juventus, Barca, RM, including the great Maradona with the exception of Pele. It is a fact that any world class player wants to play for these clubs.

Eish!!! List any world class player dying to play for the three highlighted clubs. After that, list any world class players who moved (not dumped) at any of these clubs at their prime! And don't mention the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Tevez because we all know what happened at their teams before the left.

You forgot to add that after failing to sign any quality player, they end up signing on short term loan players with broken backs.

@Mwenza though I support Arsenal, I have always conceded that recent transfer dealings have bordered on criminal negligence.

@maichblack. All players who see out their contracts are paid loyalty bonuses and final installment of the sign on fee. That's why a free transfer still involves cash.

Majority of EPL managers (including Mourinho and SAF) have made the similar remarks in the past so i don't understand why you've decided to single out Wenger.

Some of us who have seen our team graced by world class keepers like schmeichel and Van Der Sar know that a good keeper is an integral part of a good team. Chelsea fans know all too well how vital Petr Cech has been to their team. One of the reasons Aseno has endured such a major trophy drought has been due to lack of a world class goalie.

A good keeper can win you a cool 15pts in a season which can enable you lift the title easily.

Just to jog your memory Van Der Sar struggled to find a club in England before joining Fulham. Manutd defence was so protective and covered deficiencies of Roy Carrol and Barthez.
Valdez has never been a great keeper either but that never stopped Barca.
Actually, Arsenal have never had a good keeper even in the unbeaten 49.
My point is, defending is a team effort and a good team can win the EPL with average keeper.
Just quote for me the highest amount paid for a keeper!
