I will wait to see this success you are talking about. As we speak some of us would rather not be seen driving a toyota in Ruaka. Somehow that policy of shooting all cows and chicken hasn't gotten to the senseless minds of these Africans.

The case will fail. The gun that the cop used had serial number XYZ, the one to be presented to the court will be XZY.
The judge will rule there is reasonable doubt and Katitu will be set free.

Seems most of these killings occur in Nairobi. How do cops in other major towns eg mombasa, nakuru, kisumu, eldoret etc handle crime?

If all systems work then I would not support a cop shooting a thug..since syetems do not work then we need to use the law that applies where systems dont work.

In other words you cant compare our environment with any other one, you have to make decsion depending on the current situation you are in and for that reason ..i think all thugs should be shot.

Ask me why...have you seen them killing kids..I think the answer is yes. Do they know the kids have human rights.. I leave it there

For the idealists:
1. Why should we arm our police officers? Let them not bear arms like their British counter parts.
2. Which arm of our criminal justice system works as it should ideally? Courts = activists, police= corrupt, prisons = we don't care.

If we give in to thugs by intimidating the cops, then we must not moan about "our thugs are getting bolder by the day".

Only in Kenya do the well to do elude justice starting from the very top to people with relatives in Norway na kwakina @Kiash.

Those are welfare states. You get a house plus food, transport subsidies and money to watch a premier league match etc. Here you go hungry and you decided to jitafutia. Then you grow in crime. The cops have to deal with you in an impossible to convict legal systems that protects the thugs interest.

Victim mentality.

Aiming to survive today instead of being better today than you were yesterday.

It's not heathen behavior to expect the best of our professionals even when things are bad.

Saying that cops can be allowed to be criminals so that we can survive today is an acceptance of epic failure. Then you use the terms africans loosely. Basically agreeing with the white racist who says, africans can only be treated with a cane.

It is the same excuse used by the criminals when asked why they steal. They say the economy is very bad. If I was living in a welfare state I would not steal.

Excuses excuses galore for the lack of professionalism. Next they will tell us that the AK47's they carry aren't big enough, we should buy a huge anti-tank machine for every police station. OOoooops hang on, they did.

A mediocre person is one who refuses to seek the best especially when things are bad. I can see that most are agreeing that the police force is mediocre. If they can't sustain a court case, they need more training. Let's start solving the problem there.

Not allowing our cops to think they are mediocre and have no control of security.

I remember the story of the cop who killed Matheri. He was wined and dined and praised by everyone. Now he lives alone and scared. Will you be there for these cops who you are turning into killers and criminals in life?

Surely, some of these arguments are self defeatist and I personally don't understand them.

@jaggernut, so would you rather die in the hands of the carjackers and the police do nothing faced with the gun totting thugs? eh? Bundiki sio kijiko boss

yeahApplause mbunduki sio njembe, mbunduki sio kinjiko!

extra judicial killings are a necessary evil. the same people who praise Michuki and Gen Hussein Ali condemn extra judicial killings. Those guys used that to control crime and mungiki

A mungiki guy could only be charged with being a member of an illegal organisation. They could be bailed and then continue beheading poor matatu crews!

For whatever reason, the DPP who knows the full case file, including the alleged criminal activities of the brothers, has decided that the REAL criminal is this cop. I believe he is not a mad man.

Tafakari hayo.

DPP is just doing his job. He cannot charge the dead thugs.

But this case will go nowhere. Just like the Issa Timamy case where the DPP believed that Timamy was the real criminal

All I needed to know about him was this quote

"his training tells him that if a robber defies orders, his options are limited to one. Take aim and open fire - that is what he did."

ni hayo tu. He is the judge, jury and executioner. Probably watched too many rambo movies and thinks he's a commando or something.

Next time he shall fire on you as you avoid a parking ticket.

I wish and pray that hero rots in jail and dies painfully from ulcers or whatever ailment is affecting him.

Last year, another police "hero" reported that he had shot and killed two muggers at globe round about. Turned out the two were egerton university students who had just arrived in the city from Njoro. They didn't have fare and were walking towards Ngara.

Thank God nowadays we have IPOA. I wish some of us could take time and read IMLU's annual reports. They contain horrific tales.

May be, Katitu's ways stopped a sad story like THIS from happening. How many more have they killed or maimed?

The only good criminal,is a dead one.
