C'mon wakati kama huo Kenyans always contribute for their friends/relatives regardless of the financial background, hata the late Mutula Kilonzo alichangiwa. I have not seen that Star article or the letter but i think it would be wrong to dictate the amount that one is supposed to contribute. As for the other Kenyans who lost their lives, si tulichanga pesa through Safaricom, kwani imeenda wapi? IMO that money was supposed to be used to cater for such expenses first.....

If indeed its true, then it's inappropriate.

In the abstract pulling together to assist a colleague in a situation like Mwangi's family finds itself in, is may alright, but invoking officialdom makes it difficult for one to know where to draw the line.

Things get eve more fluid given that this involves Pork's kin!

That in itself translates to pressure to staff.

Very unethical in my view.

Absolutely! And they dont lack. Greed! If they lacked I would start to sympathise and understand.
Lord, thank you!

Really? And si the burial already happened or do people still contribute even after the burial has already happened? This is either ridiculous, or someone is playing games with us.

Why send out the memo on Friday when the burial was already at advanced stage? Why was it not sent on Monday? And no, even when we attend the burial meetings, unless you are committee member (i've never been one but weddings do dictate) then no one dictates how much you contribute.....

I would also ask @mawinder to do so but ukweli is that "they" will do anything for money.
If "they" can harvest organs from morgues then I dont see anything serious here.

1. Oliver Mathenge™ ‏@OliverMathenge 39m

Foreign Affairs PS says that Memo on President Uhuru's nephew's burial contribution was not for all staff but him and 24 other people.

2. It was a request. That means there was a choice. I have seen those where the amount is quoted( sounds like extortion), and those where it is not.

3. as for @mawinder and @impunity, SHAME ON YOU TWO

I'm wondering the same too! I still can't believe this!
Doesn't make sense, the cost for the president to attend the funeral is far much more expensive than the funeral itself anyway.

BBI will solve it
