The worst they can do is refuse to approve the budget, but this being where their salary comes from and knowing their greed this is highly unlikely.

Don't I just luv my constitution, finally this mpigs have been boxed into a corner.

Have you realized the lawyer mpigs are quiet, they ought to be the ones shouting the laudest on how SRC have violated the law, wanajua nikubaya imagine akina Jakoyo are the ones shouting the most...

Uhuru says
Quote:
I have noted with concern the acrimonious exchanges between the Salaries and Remuneration Commission and Parliament. While acknowledging the independence of our Parliament, the Constitution explicitly mandates the Salaries and Remuneration Commission to set and review the salaries of all state officers.

It is the expectation of the people of Kenya that independent constitutional institutions including Parliament must respect the institutional arrangements and division of mandates in our Constitution.

This continuing paralysis is not in the national interest and it is imperative that this matter be brought to an appropriate and sustainable conclusion within the law.

I therefore urge Parliament to engage the Salaries and Remuneration Commission in a constructive manner with a view to resolving this matter.

For the avoidance of doubt, all state officers in the Executive will continue to abide by the determination of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

While Speaker Muturi says: Don't threaten Parliament

Uhuru has not said anything here. he just said MPs and SRC should meet and resolve the issue amicably. In fact he is backpedalling from his earlier statements a few weeks back which were more pointed.

He should have said : Kenya is too broke and cannot afford to give MPs a lavish lifestyle.

Some Kenyans are starving. Most urbanites live in slums. 60% in poverty. 40% unemployment. So rather than give MPs raises, that money will be used to solve these problems

I respect the law. I supported the promulgation of the Constitution. The MPs don't. What they are doing is abhorrent and unconstitutional. That Constitution was passed through blood and tears it will be defended in the same way. I will not break the law or disregard the Constitution merely to line my belly and pacify greed.
If they want more money let them go to the private sector, the public sector is for sacrifice.
