@kusaidikika, is wa Kioi case based on his asking Tinga to anoint the son of Ngina? I dmt think so. I doubt @kabz @alma et al would be up in arms over such a thing.

Laughing out loudly you always come out as a strong defender of impunity.consistent one, who pays you?

with an educated middleclass thinking like this we are heading nowhere

problem with lynch mob people like you is that you never wait to analyse issues or see them from a different angle. Pardon my ignorance and inform me how asking Raila to anoint UK amounts to hate speech. However, calling Raila kihii is definitely wrong! Telling us that the uncircumcised will never lead is clear hate speech. Get it?

My defence of Kioi is not only for what he sings about but his right to do so. It is the same right that I enjoy to say upuzi things sometimes, to educate sometimes, to analyse sometimes and basically to contribute and discuss. I write something that @newfarer does not like he is free to write that that is upuzi and to air his opinion. At the end of the day I have had my say, I have heard his reaction, we are both better off because we now know what effect our opinions have on other people.

This space to air our opinion is sacred ground that I would like to defend for everyone regardless of how I feel about their opinion.

People should rise up and castigate Kioi for being insensitive, they should refuse to buy his music and refuse to attend his gigs. They should even compose songs about what a hatemonger and Bure Kabisa singer he is. Radio stations can refuse to give him airplay and club owners can refuse to allow him to sing in their clubs.

What I refuse to accept is that we should tell him what to sing about and take him to court and charge him with hate speech when he sings something that we do not like. He is an entertainer and an artist and the right to express himself is one that we share with him even those who do not like his music. Feel disgust, say it, avoid the thread, make a negative comment, refuse to comment altogether but by all means do not deny others the right to have their say.

Let us not use the excuse of the post election violence to curtail peoples freedom to express themselves. Kenyans have been making fun of each others tribes even before the creation of the country Kenya. Visit any mjengo site and listen to fundis making fun of each others tribes Jaluos are like this, Kikuyus are like this etc. If we started rounding all people who make fun of each others tribe as hate speakers we would not have a country.

Let a Luo musician sing that Kamande is mistaken and that Uhuru is not the anointed one and that Raila is the real Messiah instead and Uhuru should bow to him. Regardless of how we feel about that message I hope we can all be here to defend his right to sing not arrest him and charge him with hate speech.

you can say what you want but when kibunja comes for you don't 'yap' here that your freedom of expression is being violated.

I'm glad that kibunja men are actively in this forum & can track you to under your bed.your freedom of expression does not license you to insult other people.

Mr Civil Society, you find nothing wrong with the title of the thread yet you want to tell us that a musician asking a politician to support another is engaging in hate speech?

I wish I was on someone's payroll. I would be as active as one njugunajohn. But have you considered that we are totally different? You come from what I call 'the civil society mob'. Fellows who get new catchphrases from NGOs and the press. Words and phrases like impunity, youthful leadership, 'Kenyans want'(which is a phrase that excludes very many!), 'governors need to be professionals, not politicians' are your parlance.

Such are often quick to judge even without listening yet they believe in democracy and human rights! Here is the group that told us anyone in the NO team in the referendum was an enemy of reforms. Which human rights do you preach about modern day Pharisees?

On the other hand, I believe everyone needs to be heard and understood. I don't like mob justice where you shout 'mwizi' and everyone rushes to get a stone for the 'culprit'. Whether they are framed or not is irrelevant to a lynch mob. As scripture commands, 'be quick to judge yourself and slow to judge others'.

BTW impunity refers to exemption from punishment for wrong doing. Can we start by pointing out what is wrong then punish?

I find it very hypocritical of you to brand others as defenders of impunity while you are quiet when one of us, a wazuan, starts a thread that paints a whole community in negative light!

Maybe this is what we need to stop for cohesion. I remember Churchill Live being censured by NCIC coz of tribal jokes.

Are we just getting a wee bit carried away with these new vocabularies of Impunity; National cohesion etc? Maybe 2012 introduction of McCarthyism in Kenya? With Gestapo type policing by Kibunjia and his company! May god forbade this trend!

Now I believe the Kikuyus sang hate speech! These are snippets from the songs:

KAMANDE:
Quote:
Stop chasing the wind Agwambo, go to
Icaweri and anoint Uhuru.
You thump your chest about Hague, is Hague
your mother’s? There is a curse from God.
Philistines who do not circumcise cannot lead
Israel. When Abraham stressed God, he was
told to go get cut, even you General of
Migingo, your knife is being sharpened.

MUIGAI:
Quote:
Question: What if you knew that Hague you
are being pushed there by an uncircumcised
man who wants to push you there and take
over your wife and all your wealth? A man
who can do anything to ensure you are in
problems.
Answer: There it is better to die. Things for a
man are not governed by an uncircumcised
man. I would kill him. Its better they increase
my charges.

DeMATHEW:
Quote:
Where are you (Peter Kenneth) from? If you
were one of us, you would be pained by the
people burnt in Kiambaa church. My brother
lost his property in Kisumu, how can you tell
us he (Raila) is our community’s friend.
Father (Jomo Kenyatta) I feel sad when I see
your son (Uhuru) being persecuted by men of
ill-will and a woman (Martha Karua) is
carrying their bags.
