Everybody seeems to be forgetting who has just overtaken who this yr. KCB used to miles ahead on PBT and BS terms. Equity pulled ahead at H1 and will now continue moving forward. It doesn't matter if you cover the whole of Africa, but your ROA, liquidity metrics are mediocre

Equity Bank is a better investment over KCB any day but sentiment is with KCB this days

Its not sentiments but investors seeing potential. With recent restructuring and the expansion to the wider EA market (possibly even DRC) KCB is surely going to be the LEADER in all fronts-profitability, branch network etc. At the moment I think its more about the future rather than past.

Trust me.. if KCB meets restructuring goals as it is currently doing member will never catch up to them..

member relies on the common man too much & doesnt even have the next frontier of mortgage business.. SO SAD!! Lets see how many more wanjiku's there are to lend to going forward..

@MainaT member was the net lender during the recently concluded liquidity crunch, we are branchless...our 3Q PBT took a knock cos we lost Sh1Billion when we mtm 15% of our bond portfolio...our NPL's are declining...meaning Wanjiku is paying his loans...at FY we will be miles ahead...btwn real estate is a bubble...We set the pace they follow...Rwanda is now open for business!

Reminds me of the PanAfrican CELTEL versus the Kenyan SAFARICOM. We still remember how that one went, don't we?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

looking at loans & advances as an example kcb has suppassed equity by a whooping 84B interms of portfolio but when it comes to income from the same Kcb manages to beat Equity by about 4B only.

This example alone shows how KCB is inefficient and if it can not perform in an area where it has a comanding role what makes you think the restraucturing will make the loans more profitable than it is now.

Kcb is struggling to maintain the statutory liquidity ratio for a company that had a right issue just the other day to take a loan to shore up its liquidity is troubling if not a total fail.

Thats nostalgia! Going forward member will be paying full corporate tax like the lion & dont forget associated companies are not doing so well - like britak with HF playing catch-up to S&L. Member's future looks bleak unlike the rosy lion's.
