@jaggernaut
I have not purchased the orange unlimited internet yet,saf has me trapped for at least another 3 days ...am an economist lol but the moment this week's bundle ishas am moving for good. The modem interface has an option for a weekly and monthly bundle and as far as I know from past experience with their CDMA modems, orange doesn't cap.

The answer is simply no,CDMA and GSM are two very different technologies.

@QW, how do you make a gsm simcard register to netwORK inside a 3G+ cdma modem?

3G+ =CDMA and uses RUIM cards
3G =GSM and uses SIM cards

So you cant use 3G+ on 3G and vice versa.

Yaani @QW is even on this forum blowing bubbles & crapping turds?

3G+ = CDMA so the RUIM card will not work in a 3G modem = GSM & uses a SIM card...

I think @QW had two 3G modems and thought one was 3G+, or vice versa.

In what it calls a "special launch offer", Orange now drops the price of a high-speed modem (alleged to be 21Mpbs) to Kshs 2990/= down from Kshs 6990/=. Page 7 Nation.

Has anyone used this new modem?

Aaah for the heck of it! Just decided to do another test Orange vs Safaricom. Same location in Westlands and this time flying to Pala Alto, California.

Full network bars for both, I noticed improvement in Safaricom connection, but the King of Data remains Orange. Tested each 3 times, took the highest for both.

SAFARICOM, Grade C+

ORANGE, Grade B

NOTE:
* I do not work for either, and I'm actually closer in degrees of separation to Safaricom.
* 21mbps remains a myth in both cases.

Me I've only had my Orange for 1 week. So @QW make sure modem is black, '21mbps', at least 2/3 bars...

So why am I agog? I mean, I watch YouTube videos without buffering at all! Never ever experienced that before.

@jaggernaut SURELY, I feel you may be misleading:
--I clearly state location where I'm doing my tests
--I use both Safaricom and Orange modems 21mbps from same location
--I set test between Kenya and an International location which is clearly specified
--I do not work for either Safaricom or Orange

Perhaps you should refer to current rankings at http://www.netindex.com/download/2,128/Kenya/

Let the truth set Wazuans free; and at the least just improve your connection. I found myself having already spent on the two modems due to listening to too much hype.

@muganda Am just reporting my test results. Don't shoot the messenger. I will also test with the server you used (Palo Alto). I also do not work for either safaricom or orange but I consume their products. I recently went back to safcom after frustrations with orange 3G+. I sometimes used to get such speeds (shown below) on the 3G+ unlimited which was quite depressing. So you can imagine how happy I am with safcom's 2.6mbps.
