Why even sell them? Selling them means a commission was paid. Then leasing them back means another fee is paid. Lease payments include financing costs. Finally when scrapped, KQ might get nothing. Couldn't KQ sweat the aircraft over 2 years before scrapping them? Financial engineering 101 through lease accounting. Some people are beyond redemption https://beta.theglobeand....com&service=mobile
So Air Canada doing something similar and turning a profit. Only difference is these are B787s vs B737 The 787s are new aircraft and have another 15 yrs life. These 737s are almost dead. The article says they will be retired/scrapped after KQ is done ie in 18 months. So let me understand.. You would have preferred that KQ holds on to the depreciating craft for an extra 2 years so that they sell at a total loss and at the same time, keep incurring finance costs You don't need to explain some facts to some people. 😂😂😂 @Impunity - I see he is still getting perks coz his mboy hasn't left. MJ will not brook such payouts... 😜😜😜 Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Or is it Mckinsey/ findings of the forensic audit. If it is a new finding then my credit goes to the new Commercial Director. This is enough evidence for you guys to know that what is needed is a strong manager and not consultants and anything else. It paints a clear picture that all the managers/directors who held that position were very poor in management. The same applies to Ngunze, wait and see what the new CEO will do. You will notice the difference immediately he starts work. Ngunze headed out in exactly 2 months.. May the new CEO bring us even better tidings COOP 255,000 ABP 15.85; IMH 5,000 ABP 35.55; KQ 604,200 ABP 6.96; MTN 23,800 ABP 5.20

These are very desperate measures and it will not go on for long. A further bailout from the government is required soon or later.

Michael Joseph will not say it but the exchange bar knows that William Hondius made it to the shortlist COOP 255,000 ABP 15.85; IMH 5,000 ABP 35.55; KQ 604,200 ABP 6.96; MTN 23,800 ABP 5.20

The same with Ngunze and even the Marketing guy who just left. Naikuni passed the banton to Ngunze. The new hires sourced through a brief case HR firm recently is just anotherscandal with commisions to be paid continuously to Ngunze even after his exit. William does not have experience running a main stream airline. The way he has handled Jambojet leaves alot of questions over his management ability. If there was any serious expertise within him then he could have helped out KQ when very stupid decisions were being taken by Ngunze. Someone with a wealth of experience cannot sit back while an inexperienced person is grounding an airline. The pilots only stood up. Hondious will NOT be the next KQ CEO.

Just the mention of William sends shock waves of bleeding to this stock. I see now. But MJ will not allow him to see light of the day in KQ's top position .
