I beg to differ. Hon. Njeru Githae lost the Governorship nominations in Kirinyaga County because women were livid that that the nurses (Doctors at Mashinani) were on strike due to pay wrangles with Treasury and thus Maternity Wards were unmanned. The result was that women died while undergoing unsupervised labour resulting in double burials of mother and fetus. The doctors and medical fraternity have immense powers at the grassroots and any committee member with a rural constituency will have that in mind while making a decision if he or she will want peace at home. Ask Hon. Githae as you Ponder that.

They are there but we need them more in health management not adminstrative management of Afya house.Remember we have a shortage of Doctors. So each one of them counts. Let them give Macharia a chance. Love is beautiful and so are those who share it.With Love, Marriage is an amazing event in ones life time, the foundation of joy, happiness and success.

I see your point but in a country where we have very few organized interest groups and lobby groups that are actually driven by the ordinary mwananchi, it may be hard to harness those grass root powers to influence the MPs. Lets agree to disagree on this one, the next 7 days of vetting will be interesting to watch though.

OK. Get a HEALTH manager. Banking is different from health. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Most patients not happy with Doctors, tired of their nonchalant attitude and propensity to mis diagnose and over prescribe meds/operations. There are approximately more than 30 million Kenyans who have no access to healthcare. Most Kenyans have never been attended by a doctor in their lives. Do not attribute the misdeeds of nurses, clinical officers and other healthcare personnel masquerading as doctors to doctors. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Dismal. so there is no correlation between academic papers and performance on the job... dug something from the archives... The MOH under Kibaki was the worst run Ministry. That is when the Bretton Woods had to bail us out with an injection of cash and grants I think it was about 930m USD in tranches. He was a failure at Health. He was the direct cause of the medical brain drain and Moi's well intentioned Nyayo Hospitals failed. Conversely when he was Minister of Finance btwn 1978 and 1982 Kenya had the largest digit growth in its history... possunt quia posse videntur

McReggae wrote:I don't have anything against the doctors but truth be said most medical doctors don't know much outside their profession and specializations.......very narrow in operationsofession and specializations. I think most doctors have an elitist attitude that doesn't help much in matters leadership and management. Most are cold, individualistic, albeit bright people who do not know a thing other than medicine which doesn't make for the greatest thinkers or managers of other people. Their social networks do not go beyond family, patient relatives and professional friends, paramedics... And such high profile appointments as Ministerial positions need emotional intelligence and that is a rare commodity among those of the noble profession of medicine. !!!! McReggae, my brother, that's a really sad assessment of Kenyan doctors. Pray tell why most of them are now working in US, UK, SA, Germany, Australia etc? We lose hundreds of doctors each year to foreign countries because our doctors are at par with any other doctor anywhere in the world. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.
