Conversely if the US decided to skip the G8 meeting, there would not be a G8 meeting. Now thats how you define a world power.
Germany may just have tipped the scales against Russia. I can bet no german can ever trust a Russian, too many uncomfortable memories of WWII and the occupation of the East during the cold war. Putin has overplayed his hand here, he could find himself in a tight spot soon. Thats why the Russian Foreign secretary is negotiating with his Ukrainian counterpart. Please get your information right NEW DELHI: India, Brazil, China and South Africa today opposed any restrictions on participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G-20 summit in Australia later this year in the wake of Russia annexing Crimea from Ukraine. The BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries expressed concern over Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop's comment that Putin could be barred from attending the G 20 Summit in November. The custodianship of the G20 belongs to all member-states equally and no one member-state can unilaterally determine its nature and character," the BRICS said in a statement.
The Ministers of BRICS countries met on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, Netherlands.
I have my facts right, his invite to the G8 meeting was cancelled and it became a G7, the G8 meeting was initially meant to be held in Sochi but was moved to Hague. He will most likely also be left out of the G20 meeting when held. The prestige associated with the G7 meeting kwishad its a meeting of the cousins thats all. The headlines coming from it are just assurances that the US will always side with EU {YAWN} who doesn't know that. Lets wait and see if it will be G20 or G15 lol! @Muchr stop being such a sore looser, when did G8/7 become a meeting of cousins . G15 are a tad too many, we already have a G7. @Murchr has completely lost it. Russians are doing something wrong but he supports them anyway. It is clear that Putin has bitten off more than he can chew. By the time the dust settles, ordinary Russians will suffer most.

@Muchr... hachan na hao watu wapige kelele But if they want to really know why the world and especially the EU will achieve very little by imposing sanctions on Russia then go World proven gas reservesThose are kasin figures showing that 1. Iran and Russia have 41% of all proven gas reserves in the world 2. Both the two countries are on the same political/military side 3. Both countries are the best placed to supply gas to Europe at less costs (distance and quantity) 4. EU has said it will explore alternatives... what alternatives can replace supplies from the abundance of your doorstep naiba? How long will they take to develop and at whose cost? And while we are looking, where do we get from? That chess game is finito, start another game, maybe up the ante in financing democracy in Iran, which i doubt will succeed!! @jah man.... you are right on one thing... that kasin is not so keen on this Ukraine thing.... that has been stressed by his call to EU to chip in and not just let him and the angringos alone do the funding.... but now save for Germany, who in EU has money??? I say setup a new chess game!!! When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

In the case of Russia, they need Europe to buy their gas just as much as europe needs the gas. That same gas needs to pass through Ukraine and Russia is still paying toll charges, even with the conflict. Russia has no other market to sell its gas, so its basically a stale mate. If they stopped supplying Europe, they would find themselves losing massive $$$. Now question is would Putin manage to convince his people to starve for pride? FYI russia is a very basic commodity based economy, I don't think they produce anything of note apart from potatoes and vodka Its very delicate balance that you obviously can't comprehend. This of Kingfisher is a funny one, that you survive by starving your customer, which business model is this? Russia's energy infrastructure is westwards. They export almost all their oil and gas through Ukraine. Building new pipelines to pump energy to china or any other place will take years. infact Europe can do without Russian gas if the US or Qatar step in to fill the void. It will take some time for US gas to arrive in Europe, but Qatar can turn it on in days. It's no big deal! ..."Wewe ni mtu mdogo sana....na mwenye amekuandika pia ni mtu mdogo sana!".

Now matter how you try to look at the issue no one will win...not the US, not the EU, not Russia... and the sanctions may be felt globally right up to our doorsteps... Read the article below...it gives some clear insight... Russian Sanctions Have Been Pointless, but the Next Ones Could Hurt the U.S. More...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

It is clear that Putin has bitten off more than he can chew. By the time the dust settles, ordinary Russians will suffer most. What has Russia done really? 97% of Crimeans wanted to go back home and Russia welcomed them with open arms so what is the issue? Kosovo in the 90s wanted to break out of Russia and no one placed sanctions rather the world welcomed them. So my informed Kenyans please explain to me like a 2 year old WHAT wrong you keep placing on Russia. Infact Russia is very good. Ukraine is in debt and loosing Crimea is a favor. Did you know that Ukraine was part of USSR even them, they broke off without coercion. So those who think am a sore loser because of G7 really can countries such as Italy boast of anything? Am a proud student of the late Prof Katama Mkangi. Seems they dont make such profs anymore. We're really lacking in geopolitics "There are only two emotions in the market, hope & fear.
