This here states the average annual rainfall in Kitengela is 592 mm per year. Is this enough for a family of 4 for a year without any other source?

What sort of question is this papaLaughing out loudly ? Surely, even from primary school basic maths, one is able to compute what storage capacity, roof area and perhaps even install additional catchment to make sure they are water secure year round ama? Drool If a guy can live in the ARIZONA DESERT and is water secure, jameni what is your excuse?
Let's move out of the stone age Kenyans and get with the times!

You can harvest 21,696.46 liters of water per year in Kitengela from a roof of 400 square feet. That a lot of water from such a small area.
When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

400 sq ft is the size of a tiny servant quarter mbro.

For a 300 sqm house this is 3229 sq ft, how much water can you harvest from that.

And this does not include:

- Outer buildings eg DSQ
- Any constructed rain roof
- berms and any other rain channels on ground (assuming you are collecting that as well)
-etc

This also does NOT include roof pitch which as you know increases surface area significantly.
