I watched Guinea Bissau vs Mozambique over the weekend and despite not knowing any of the players, the match was very entertaining with twists and turns in terms of qualifying. I believe, it will still be an entertaining tournament. Or is it the company i had In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins - cash and experience. The standards have really dropped in African football. Very few players are doing well at global level with Mane,Salah and Koulibally being the few exceptions though none of them have hit the heights of past years. Truth forever on the scaffold Wrong forever on the throne (James Russell Rowell)

The Ghana I watched last Saturday is not the Ghana I have always known.

African football has bee left behind. African teams have not mastered modern tactics which emphasize quick passes and de-emphasize dribbling. Thats why Africa did rather poorly at the 2018 world cup. There is no team for Kenya to fear at AFCON 2019. With proper prepration they can go far.

African football is mainly based on athleticism. Modern football does not need a player to run very fast, only needs good positioning and timely passes. That explains why the likes of Wanyama are bench warmers and Ahmed Mussa can't find a club in Europe yet he is one the fastest players. Ironically , players like Alex Iwobi who are less physically endowed but have close ball control and quick passes are doing much better for their clubs but flop at the national level which demands physicality and slow passes.
