So now that things have cooled off, how bad was this attack. Any clue how many of our soldiers died.

My heart goes out to them and families.

Am really hoping the govt doesn't handle the deaths of KDF heroes they way it did with Bernard tonui, the recce squad hero who died at Garissa university.

It's like the govt didn't want to draw much attention to Tonui's funeral. So much so that Boniface mwangi and his crew were the only ones talking about Tonui.

Personally I would want our heroes to come back home in coffins draped with the national flag. I would want the whole city to come to a stand still. I want the procession covered by each and every radio and tv station. I want every public school closed and the pupils line up city streets waving the national flag. I want to hear the commander-in-chief to reassure the tearful nation that we shall triumph. That though we have been tested, our resolve to win this war is unwavering.

We might, in that sorrowful trance, rediscover our patriotism.

I agree with @guru267, 5 years and counting what is the end game?
By now we should have come up with a timeline of pulling out of somalia and let the AU fill the vacuum as we deploy our soldiers to protect and safeguard our boundaries

It is part of AU/AMISOM. What I know is that neighbouring countries should are not allowed to contribute troops to conflicts affecting the neighbouring state and Kenya being part of AMISOM was a result of the earlier invasion of Somalia in 2012, it is about time we leave Somalia and let AU through AMISOM deploy troops as per the AU charter

@mat, where was the AU when these terrorists almost brought shipping biz in Indian ocean to it's knees. Kenya waited for the longest time for AU to act, until our economy was at risk and couldn't wait any longer. We must and are going to win this war no matter how long it takes. My condolences to all Kenyans and more so friends and relatives of the departed

@mzee mwenzangu, it was just a genuine quesiton from @guru and you come abusing her? You should also go back to your hole or tree.

I thought your alleged wisdom should tell you that "violence begets violence" or "hate begets hate".

@harrydre, continue pointing fingers at others, but truth might be that you're more savage. Even Jesus himself said "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."

Condolence to the family.

@limanika, I don't dispute that Kenya has done wonders in Somalia even stopping piracy in the Indian ocean but time has come for her to support Amisom in other ways apart from troops deployment.
Let us secure our boundaries and patrol the Indian ocean but not to engage directly to the conflict

I agree with you @matoe. Some people know is keyboard incitement. They only see on TV, and don't know the real effect of war.

They are high on drugs, that is why. All they think is force. They don't think there is other ways of solving problems. No one is looking at what is the root cause to fighting in Somalia.

@FRM,
SECONDED......Roll our fallen heroes through the streets. Let them know, even in death, it was their countrymen they died for. That is courage beyond.

@Alpha,
...and that other shabaab sympathiser. Keep it to yourself. We are mourning and by now you would should have known Kollabo is a Kenyan soldier and when he says they are itching, he knows it. KDF should not and will not leave Somali. As i post, tanks are rolling and those savages will pay heavily. Jinga hawa!Sad
