I think this had to done inorder to reduce pressure on the Shilling, which economist had warned would have an negative impact on the economy if not checked. I'm no expert in Macroeconomics but i think this situation is working well for the CBK Governor, the idea was to control the money in circulation.

CBK hits borrowers hard to save shilling

"When fewer people and business borrow for fear of high interest rates on loans, the supply of Kenya Shilling drops significantly thus increasing its demand. The higher the demand for the Kenya Shilling, the stronger it gets against the US dollar........"

As we are hit hard we shall begin to appreciate the dangers of some of the things happening around us.Corruption, heavy theft, excessive borrowing by government, cost of devolution, living beyond our means etc.Am sure we are getting wiser and soon natural reaction will bring forth solutions.Civil servants earning 100k may have to explain how they built blocks of flats in Eastleigh or how they bought vehicles worth 10M.

Meanwhile we have no candidate for 2017 and we need to scout for one.UK is failing and obviously RAO is not the better option.

And we also need to reduce some positions in both national and county government.

CBK Governor is trying his part but Jubilee must address the root causes. We all know raising interest rates will reduce economic activity, reduce revenue etc hence zero sum game. Let jubilee focus on the root causes if they want to get out of this quagmire - and there are no quick fixes.

Of course we have a slow down in the economy. It's a bear market worldwide. However as you keep whining and complaining, foreign investors are moving massive cash and investing in this very economy. When you wake up or by the time you recover from the middle class debts most of you have, it will be too late. Smart up!

How did middle class get into this thread? The post was a genuine attempt to try get answers how we got into this mess…coz if we know how we got here we might know how to get out. If you try to kill this well intended post we can only assume you are benefiting from tenderpreneurship and the status quo …Back to topic

I am not a tenderpreneur, however my export biz is doing well...on the other hand naumia while forex trading. As I said, middle class have felt the most heat because of their lifestyle. Nothing much has changed with the poor and the very rich are busy investing now as you complain.

Applause Applause Applause I totally agree!

There is need for a third force, this is the time for the likes of Peter Kenneth to present themselves as the "better option" not a few months to the elections.

Once the Jubilee apologists have stopped accusing us of being too middle class to think with loans up our asses, can they please say that what Jacob Juma Kabetes is posting is a lie.

Because those are extremely serious allegations.
