......PS... Larry needs to learn a thing or two on interviewing from @husseinmohammed (my take). Ama abaki tu kwa the trend where he is goood.

I don't like Larry Madowo but on this one he tried his best to keep his cool. Most of us would have slapped the police spokesman. He was two annoying!!! Example - The police force has lost two vehicles in different attacks in one year (They didn't have the cars at the same time. One was replacing the other one). After the second one was burnt they were given on that doesn't work. But the spokesman kept saying that the police post has THREE vehicles which is more than other police posts! Which three vehicles?? Did he think he was in a children's program where he can confuse people??? And he never addressed any of the issues raised. Kept shouting patriotism, sacrifice, raia, there must be someone at Boni, they made a personal decision to join the police force bla bla bla and giving other generic answers!

Police spokesman is mandated to speak on behalf of the police force. Those other junior police officers in Boni forest should persevere and work and if they are not interested in work they can buy the dailies and apply for numerous jobs advertised.I fully agree with the Police Spokesman having seen his good work when he was the port police boss.

On your way from Central Cop station, look left as you go down Slip way and you will see some mabati police houses worse than those in Boni. If you gave me a choice between Suguta and Boni I would choose the later in a flash.

We are so behind, corrupt, removed from reality, a bunch of jokers etc.

1) Policemen should not be fetching water and firewood. The government should get a water tanker to supply the police posts with water and build storage tanks for them. One tanker can serve up to twelve police stations/posts in the region - two per day. Every stations/post gets a delivery once a week. The time the spend fetching water and firewood can be used policing.

2) Communication equipment. That should be a must!!! Should be among the best in the country. Should be working and have an up time of 99% plus.

3) Police helicopter. There MUST be at least one stationed permanently in the region - even if it is serving police posts/stations in a 100 km radius. The helicopter should be equipped well enough to provide air support, surveillance, search and rescue missions etc. In case of an attack, radio communication, air support pap!!!

4) Basic living conditions should be improved. A mabati dining area/entertainment area that is sprayed with bullets as you are eating is a no no. A basic stone structure would mitigate such attacks. I saw some of them wearing those sandak sandals called floaters and another wearing akala with their jungle uniform. I don't think they had left their boots in the house!

And these things are not "a movie" as some clown was saying. These are basic requirements that we can afford. I know how much taxes me and my fellow Kenyans pay both directly and indirectly. I know how much of that is wasted (over) paying idiots, corruption - including purchase of 5k wheelbarrows at 109k, paying 2m to open a Facebook page and all the billions looted at both the National and County level

Masukuma thinks these should not be because these individuals are 'trained'. Their 'training' was to fetch water & firewood.

He/she also says that is what they 'signed up for'. They signed up to fetch water and firewood.

What an idiot!

sorry matusi won't change things... that is what they signed up for... Think about it... why didn't you apply to join the police force? people with options don't join the police force!! it's a sad fact! facts are facts! UNFORTUNATELY! Poor fellows! And this is the tip of the iceberg.... watu wanajificha nairobi halafu wanatoa masharti with ...
THE GOVERNMENT MUST BLAH BLAH BLAH! it's a sad state of affairs but karibu kenya! So today... vent all you want but sleep knowing that you live in a poor corrupt 3rd world country!

P.S... it's a 'he'

The policemen interviewed erred by exposing the force in such a fashion. I would fire them if I was their boss. Even though they are working in a challenging environment, it is not unique to them neither do workers anywhere get all the tools and equipment they want.

If Govt tolerates this, then you will see KDF soldiers on NTV saying they have been abandoned in Kismayu blah blah blah.

A policemen is a member of the disciplined force and the chain of command is clear and complaints of working conditions should not be allowed to be raised in a casual manner

of course the goose of those cops is cooked! kulalamika kama raiya!! what these members of the disciplined force have forgotten is that "hao sio raiya!" that is why the go huko 'kambi'... Raiya haiwezi hiyo kazi! Inakaa kama 'Uraiya' haukutoka ndani yao! Of course you will hear people saying... "I don't know how policemen do blah blah blah" - you wouldn't know coz you are a raiya... By the way after kaiganjo or wherever they get trained si the 1st place they are thrown is huko "Kenya"? so they are not the only ones! For some reason the name "Al Shabab" sends chills down the backs of kenyans as if their bullet will kill you more than the bullet of the Oromo Liberation Front or the Cattle Rustlers in Pokot or the Mungiki in Central province? Or random thugs stealing cars in Nairobi... Risasi ni Risasi and so when you went to run vururu mtende kwa stadium - that is what you were signing up for!! I am sorry for that harsh reality but that is the reality!! so Raiya ilalamike halafu jioni iende kukunywa kahawa Java! Jioni irudi nyumbani kwa mke wake and watoto in a gated community!

Let's us agree to disagree on whether the policemen should have talked to the press or not. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Let us discuss the issues that were raised. Forget who and how they were raised. Let us discuss the situation on the ground.

Otherwise we will be like the police spokesman who totally ignored the issues and focused on secondary things like "gazetted" members talking to the press, patriotism bla bla bla.

1) I empathize with the police officers meant to work in those conditions. But that's what they sighed up for!!!
2) that is why the call us raiya! Coz we don't have what it takes to survive that kind of setting... I.e. we have not been trained to survive those areas, topography or settings.
3) this should serve as a reminder that kenya is still a poor, corrupt 3rd world country. So as you see people taking breakfast at art caffe, driving into the Sankara for lunch or eating dinner at Villa Rosa don't be decieved
Karibu Kenya.

Precisely, @masukuma.

We are a backwater nation. When we have MCAs who cannot write their names, teachers who strike every every year over pay (never over working conditions and teaching materials),Governors who push us out of the narrow roads in the counties so their convoy can have way, police who collect bribes and their superiors rescue them when nabbed, etc etc, be very worried.
