We all know that countries that efficiently deal with this kind of attacks have been living with terrorism for many years and have also learned to deal with it through trial and error. Kenya is not at war with any country. The enemy is within us wich is also confusing because we are not in a civil war. I hope our learning curve doesnt take more of our citizens as we learn from countries who have experienced much worse situations than us.
Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

We need a disaster management/rapid response command -during terrorists attacks whoever is in charge of it can order and marshall resources from anybody in Kenya's armed forces, the airforce, army and navy -yes. Even Karangi or the future Karangi should eat any directive coming from the command's leader.
Then squads like Recce need to be deployed all over the country, realistically, a squad in each of what were the former provincial headquarters would be a start. That is 8 squads. With 2 helicopters each for starters, several vehicles and other equipment, get a budget line that should never dry up or be exposed to the moronic haranguing of parliament, and constantly audit them to assess the state of permanent readiness.
This isn't too much to swing is it, Mr President?
Does anyone in the bureaucracy ever use their brains?

The recce squad are not trainned in kiganjo, you need some foreign country to approve the same.

now how do you propose we define a terrorist attack inorder to place the whole security apparatus under command of this disaster chaps, do we go to court for a an order or do we leave that to another committee.

Now do we forward to the squads the chopper pilots, or do we start training them to fly the things, armed units are not like private guards, they need a well drilled and defined command structure otherwise you do not want rouge units hanging somewhere, and you do not want a shifting command structure.

I have argued in the this forum in the past that as long as advancement in the security forces is determined by tribalism and how loyal you are, or by how corruptly you can take advantage of the system, all these things you suggest will never work.

The first thing is professionalism. Promoting and commending hard working officers who solve cases and get criminals behind bars. Performance measures that mean you can be fired if you do not deliver - not transferred elsewhere to continue your corruption/working with crooks. Without this we are all wasting time

point on, its the people not the systems or structures, thats the elementary issue the constitutional experts failed to note in all their brilliance.
change names, introduce new structures... lakini as long as the people in charge ni wale wale, it might be as well as chasing the wind.

Tosha that is the problem, now how do we solve it?
Been wondering why is it soo hard to join the police service orarmy, in my opinion it should be for all citizens.
Anyway they are meant to protect the government not citizens , l surrender!

On the day this was happening I was posting what was happening, in parables, in case of undermining.

Things are worse than what has already been reported. Take that and can it.

As usual we go back to vote for these people because you hate raira or you hate uhuru. You just don't get it do you?

Vote in these thugs and forever suffer. That is what choices and consequences means.

Now for the URP fanatics can you explain how there are no roads good enough for your governor to travel by. To go visit a hero who sacrificed his life in Garissa, yet the current JAPanese or whatever they will call themselves next refuses to give the police better terms and services? Oh yeah in case you forgot, he got a condolensce letter from the President #2yearsofsuccess lets tweet people.

Oh no, Muslims are killing us is the rallying call. Upus. You are killing yourselves voting in these thugs. I said they had intelligence before and now the media has seen it fit to give the info that was all over about this.

May you all get what you deserve.

In the meantime, as modern corps was holding a mini harambee on Twirra for two cops who died, the hero was buried next to his mud hut and two children who will never get help from the very gov't he was protecting.

Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. The Lord is the only way to stop the hurt.

They killed our sons and daughters. I am angry!! Why waste time in law courts. Shoot the bastards in a public square. Move Daadab to 50kms inside Somalia. Dig a trench near Mandera town and place some military razor wire in it. Feed all the terrorism suspects with pork only for thirty days. Damn human rights. The bastards are not human. I am still angry!!!!

I support. Why waste time and resources taking the terrorists to court. Kill them and feed them to pigs in a mosque. Admin should also ban and hand over our resident terrorist to the police.

Sad that a student has died in today's UON stampede. Clearly we have no disaster control mechanisms/techniques in place in our institutions. We need to start conducting drills so that in case of any emergency people know how they should react...
