Simply "Let the people decide".

If the electorate doesn't want to be rules by a certain age bracket it will speak through the votes during an election not in a referendum. Hiyo mambo yakuzika watu wakiwa hai inafaa kukoma.

The youth are less tribal; on average our elderly politicians have been more tribal than young ones. If we have to slay the dragon of tribalism, we might consider radical measures. If we had age limit of say 70 years for PORK candidate, Perhaps, Kenyatta would never have been president. Moi would have retired in 1997. Kibaki would have retired in 2002. I mean, the history of Kenya would be completely different from what it is today. Finally, by putting age limit (at least from my own perspective), it is not disrespect to the elderly, but actually a show of deep respect. In that we will be saying, you have served us well - up to age 70 or so, it is now time to take a rest and concentrate on other matters which are of greater importance to you and your loved ones than the sometimes dirty game of politics. Again you do not want to be seen like fighting for bread with your kids or people who are half your age – 35 yrs.

If history is anything to go by, even in 2027 he will vie. That's why we need age limit, people need to rest at some point, and pass mantle to fresh blood. Otherwise akina Ababu will also get their chances in their 70s and 80s, this will be a vicious cycle

Cord will then introduce the ethnic angle limiting the presidency to one tribe only with a maximum of one term backdated to 2013.
My take let people fight it out in the field ata if wants to try at 90 no problem smile

Too bad CORD are mere spectators in Parliament!

My friend private companies, government institutions all have a retirement age because a person over 75 has a rapidly shrinking brain and infact is living on borrowed time!

No reason why such a person should become Head of anything let alone a state..

By the way, why do we put age limits for judges, army generals, teachers etc and not for presidents?
