With time I have come to like our president though I did not vote for him. But his advisers are not doing a good job. They have not advised him on how to behave when with certain people. Yesterday's instructions through Sonko's phone to stop the demolitions in South B is a good example. Is Sonko one of his best friends? Surely? Doesn't he think he embarrassed the Cabinet Secretary who had ordered the demolitions?. Why are we cheapening the presidency?

"His excellency the President called and asked me to give more time to the people that have fully developed their properties and we hereby suspend that one for now." CS Koskei!

I don't believe UK could have dealt with the issue any other way especially since alikuwa on speaker.

I'm even tired to reply @TAZ.

I wish Arsenal lost FA today and so the next season talks could take centre stage.

I bet the affected families can seek an appeal or legal redress in the meantime to exhaust the matter legally.

but nooo..these CORD sycophants are at it again. Mlitaka UK aiite Cabinet Meeting nxt week when demolitions are over?? Buure kabisa.

And that is the reason why i like UMK..

Hapa tuwache kucomplain tafadhali.
A leader should be accessible. Not by every hoi polloi but still accessible and Sonko is that channel to the Wanjikus.

If it were me i would have handled it the same way UMK did.

If you get such a call from a lieutenant. then the best thing to do is freeze everything that is happening first.

If there were demolitions happening, stop them! If it was a construction about to start, stop it!

Clearly a trusted aid would not be calling you for fun under such circumstances.

The president has been bogus on roadside declarations lately, and Sonko to say the least, mediocre ....

But on this incidence, I give the two a 9 out ot 10.

Is it likely that Kosgei was demolishing those houses without prior knowledge of the president? That would be very scaring. Demolishing people's homes is not like washing a street which I wouldn't expect the president to be aware.

Kenya will NEVER change. Funny 'ours' is always right and 'theirs' is always wrong mentality will hurt us to our graves!

The question is, were the demolitions justified? Was there proper consultations done? Were there approvals for the demolitions to happen in the first place by the authorised institution? If so, they shouldn't have been stopped - president or no president. Infact, if the president gives you a job out of his confidence in your judgement, then he should let you solve the problems in your docket. I would believe, if there were consultations with the right authorities, the stake holders etc etc, then, the decision that was reached on phone, would have been reached before the demolitions started. If a decision could not be reached, then it was not going to be reached, a phone call or not.... and demolition decision would have been final.... my thinking.
