To avoid sanctions fully, whoever wins the presidency will need to hand over the suspects.

Will that be easy? Will such a move have lesser evil than not handing the suspects over?

I do not think this matter is as easy as not having the suspects on the ballot paper or not voting for them.

Really? Why will the President need to hand them over? Why cant they just take themselves there? Was there a point where Kibaki had to hand them over?

Why then has the Kibaki administration been working to protect them?

Why did Oar have to promise that his administration would petition the UN to bring the cases back to Kenya?

Why was the Jubilee coalition formed? Why should it have Musalia as its front runner?

BGL, let me draw your attention to posts I made above relating to the Islamic Republic of iran, a very rich state by kenyan standards, before you make SERIOUS POSTS befitting an experienced wazuan. Talking of DNA n other chest thumping antics make you look very ignorant or uninformed. Sanctions are not just about the HIV,malaria n FPE aid freeze, our central bank may be isolated, uhuruto shunned, our horticulture products, tea n coffee ignored (they ignored iranian oil anyway), severe inflation may follow etc. Much as I detest the west, whether u like it or not, THEY RULE THE WORLD! That china people keep yapping about heavily depends on the western MARKET n western FDI. Removing uhuruto blinkers may help us see things much more clearly with sobriety.

For the record i will not vote so you and others can elect whoever you want to lead Kenya i also stand by what i said. 'We do not have to do something differently because the so called western powers say so. Someone needs to wake up!'

Secondly, you can praise the west as if they make the oxygen that you breath and they will disconnect the supply if the ICC_duo is voted in march 2013.

My piece of advice..@SimonKabz..be realistic and wake up! Most importantly, do not sink into depression if the two guys are in state house because life must continue. Whoever is elected its not the end of the world.

The latest opinion poll is pointing into that direction courtesy of the tribal arithmetic

Wewe hunielewi my friend. Take your time n re-read my post b4 you put words in my mouth. Whoever Kenya choses is neither here nor there, but all of us will have to live with the consequences. People may pay dearly for the mistakes of others, its not like I will die, but I'm sure quite a number will succumb in the wake of sanctions. I'm being realistic here, it's you who is burying your head in the sand. May I repeat, I don't worship the west, neither do they make my oxygen. These emotions you display will not take you or kenya anywhere. May God enlighten our people n give us wisdom. ....

Sometimes it feels as though the west main agenda is to keep the 'REFORMER' from getting power. Either they don't understand kenyans and kenyan politics or they are actually bent on ensuring Rao doesn't ascend to power contrary to popular belief. Look at what happened when Ruto and Uhuru were indicted of crimes against humanity- it only galvanised the kikuyu and kalenjin ethnic communities around this two guys and instead of keeping them away from seeking elective posts so Rao can have a smooth ride to State House, it has given them the balls to go the whole hog. Now this issue of travel bans, ambassadors not dealing with the two guys and the west telling them not to seek elective posts, at least not for now, can only work to Rao's disadvantage because if bad gets to worse, UHURUTO will try to make sure some other guy goes to State House. And knowing kenyans and tribalism, a Moses Mudavadi and Henry Kosgei ticket(as someone said in this thread) would come tops. If the west thought kenyans wouldn't touch guys accused of crimes against humanity they were very wrong and if they thought guys would kill there political ambitions because they face crime charges at the ICC they were wrong too. Maybe the West has a totally different agenda than is popularly believed or they never really understood kenyans and their politicians. Or someone with a different agenda amongst them misadvised them or they were beaten to the game by some of our kenyan.................

Zimbabwe and Iran have both had their economies crumble under the pressure of Western sanctions! This was even after the respective governments adamantly maintained that they did not need the West to survive..

Its sad to see Kenyans allowing bad history to repeat itself.. I dread the day we will be buying bread & milk for 1billion shillings just because of our ego!

Remember "Pride comes right before a fall"

Include MDVD on this since they are fronting him and those sanctions will equally apply because the two will be ruling by proxy... that is the case in Iran.. its not Ahmedinijad but Khameni who rules....

at one point I thought zimbabwe was going to collapse in total anarchy once we started hearing of inflation figures that went contrary to my basic maths knowledge.

No single country or envoy or UN official or anybody WITH A WORKING BRAIN concerning democracy has opposed Uhuru or Ruto running, this is a creation of i don't know who. Weka LINK! There is absolutely no logic in barring candidates simply because they have an ongoing court case in which they are fully cooperating! It will never happen, wake me up when one single envoy opposes any of the two running for elective post, It is perfectly legal, it is democracy and it will happen that Uhuruto will be in power in three months time! The ICC cases (Please understand it was a referral , ICC had requested Kenya to sort out these cases before) will then be immediately referred back to Kenya, and you know all charges will be dropped. In any case Isreal, Sudan, USA have all ditched ICC because they were to face charges, and blocked/rescinded to ICC, and have henceforth no legal obligations for signing up to ICC, it's NOTHING NEW. Remember Kenyatta came out of jail as a convicted terrorist to rule, Mandela came out of prison as a convicted terrorist to rule. Even Clinton was impeached and continued to rule till a verdict was found. Kapondi the Mt Elgon suspect was allowed to run. The voice of the people is the voice of God. No one punishes good democracy, hio ni uwongo tupu!
