President Kibaki is a good president. He is the best Kenya has ever had so far.

The revival of key parastatals like KCC and KMC has really helped the rural folk

His style of politics is also great. You do learn a lot from him

I think the Legacy that Kibaki has left is the full realization of the fallacy that is REVOLUTION.

There is no real revolution in a capitalist economy ...The revolutionaries end up being worse than their predecessors who they were to replace.

Examples:
1.In 2002 we somehow had nipped tribalism in the bud but come 2005 Kibaki had reversed all that gain and as we are speaking we have already killed more than a thousand, coast is about to secede the financial system is dominated by one tribe.

2.Development which is supposed to be his legacy is now in shambles apart from Thika S.highway the Road network in the country is degenerating Fast...Road repair is unheard of the the ministry of Roads.

3.A government that was in the beginning being begged to take loans is now running everywhere borrowing..our debts are increasing day by day.

The list is endless...but one thing that I wuld remember him for is his carefree attitude in guiding this nation....his leadership style is cowardly and erratic .... we cant even tell how his handover will be..its that unpredictable.

Tribalist!!! he killed the 2002 spirit...and anyone who would have taken the job after Mo1 would have done a great job, whether Kibaki or anyone else.

We recognize him for being president when Frankiln Bett (ODM) made the roads...sadly expanding significantly roads leading to Central Kenya...

Typical ignorant ODM supporter sentiment! ODM supporter, not politician. The politician knows the truth, but he'd rather the supporter believes the lie!

So Bett, the ODM minister was in charge of roads from 2003? So the same Bett has ignored his part of the country and chose to develop Central Kenya roads? Do you see how contradicting your statement is? on one hand you want us to believe that ODM should be credited with improved road infrastructure, while on the other you want us to believe that an ODM Minister opted to develop central roads only!

I am waiting for your Atwoli style lecture on how fuel prices in Mombasa became higher than in Kigali due to Kibaki.

But I agree, Kibaki was the turn around President that failed to seize the opportunity. The economy is up, but that is not all that we wanted. He could have done better.

I like the way you put it, we 'somehow' nipped tribalism...somehow. 2002 was the year we almost killed tribalism. But we didn't. We had tribal chieftains from various big tribes sit together nad give us a 'united' feeling. We were had not genuinely given up tribalism.

Kibaki could have done more. He could have seized the euphoria to create a govt whose appointments no one could condemn, but he chose another route. It was part of the reason why there was caos in 2007.

2.Development which is supposed to be his legacy is now in shambles apart from Thika S.highway the Road network in the country is degenerating Fast...Road repair is unheard of the the ministry of Roads.

You should go further and give us a list of roads done between 2004 and today and which ones are dilapidated. This doesn't sound factual.

The list is endless...but one thing that I wuld remember him for is his carefree attitude in guiding this nation....his leadership style is cowardly and erratic .... we cant even tell how his handover will be..its that unpredictable.

This is the part I like about him.

I honestly think he was looking for merit in his appointments - his so called tribal appointments did a wonderful job, I would not mind if all positions were filled by a single tribe as long as they deliver.
For me the biggest failure is in his handling of the violence in 07 and 08

Just think of the dozens of well educated Luos, Kurias, Swahili, Borana etc being by passed as someone from Mt Kenya got a big job as PS or head of parastatal.

You cannot just ignore the impact of this on national unity. It easily gave fodder to the twin fires of ODM popularity and ethnic hatred that almost ground this country to a halt in 2007.

You cannot just be good on the economic front and hope people will be happy with whoever you give positions to. You've got to be fair or at least appear fair!!

I believe back in 2003, RAO was the minister in-charge who set the ball rolling, when he brought down houses for the Northern bypass and there was grumbling that he is destroying people's hard work...There is no contradiction here!!...as indicated, Franklin Bett is the current Roads Minister and we know who he reports to...that is Kibaki and possibly why we've seen roads heading to Central expanded (this is where you will talk about cabinet decisions etc)...it will do good for the trade in the area, and access to the airport etc....
