Oh, well... we will see in a 2-3 years. I invested a little in it. Not sure why ;-) but I based it on what I saw as 'potential' growth that I saw for Gap while in the USA.

Gap had multiple brands like Old Navy, Gap, Banana Republic, etc [Different scenarios also apply!]

@KenyaLyrics Deacons sales per square foot is Sh7680 Do you know how much one pair of jeans cost in Woolworth or Mr Price Deacons? Also remember they have 25 mega shops across E.A. I just find it strange that such an empty retail store has actually reached IPO stage. Stranger still, no Wazuans seem to be asking questions about it...

@KenyanLyrics i concur that the customer numbers aren't that impressive but believe me, 10 serious customers can easily clock 1m in daily sales at a single Woolworths Store (Sarit and Yaya).

I actually had a brief stint with them back in 2006 and i can attest that the prices are slightly more than triple the purchase cost.

I don't know when someone will adopt the 'Equity model' in the clothes business. I believe there's a huge market for new clothes but the prices quoted in those stores in the malls are just ridiculous. As someone has said items are priced upto 3 times the cost price. Why can't we have stores selling clothes at prices that many can afford. For those who have been to the UK I mean something akin to the chain store 'Primark' or 'TK Maxx' where you can get clothes at very affordable prices e. g. a nice pair of jeans at £5 or a polo shirt at £3. A single Primark store handles thousands of customers per day and stores are located in all towns in the UK so you can imagine their sales per day.

Great move... Tanzania is an investors worst nightmare... Without these losses profits should shoot up wildly...
