@Seles,can't believe that you are seriously thinking of investing in offshore T-Bills and Fixed Deposits. Last time I checked the yields in most developed markets for these products were near zero. You divest out of equities when they have a very strong run - such as the Kenyan scenario upto 2007 and in the runup to Scom IPO. You then get back when all others seem to have given up. Since March the NSE has gained +30%,and we are still down YTD. The likes of Hong Kong and Mumbai are up over 50% although admittedly they are now slowing down.

Which countries have T-Bills paying 25%? Please name them and we shall all take our money there.

When I asked for the names of the countries,I was serious! It is not uncommon for T-Bills to pay that high; indeed,in the early to mid 1990s,Kenya's bills were paying over 50%...I bought quite a few at 35% interest.

The only problem is that when rates are that high,the economy is usually on the death bed. The only reason I put my money in the Kenyan T-bill was that I am Kenyan and I trusted MY government to live up to its promise to pay on maturity.

Now ask yourself this: would you put your money in a Somali T-Bill paying 30%?

Still,I'd like to know which countries seles is alluding to.
