Please help me with the maths above, how does a split lower your average purchase price.Or are you confusing it with a bonus?[/quote]

Because for every 4 u have u get an extra 1, i.e. with for all the shares u'll know have it will have cost u the same ammount..

@Govmusilli go do home and differentiate between right and split. You still have a long way bro.

but does the average price matter? For simple arithmetic lets say you buy 100 shares at 68 bob, the split is 4 to 1, so you get 300 shares more and the price is 17, so the value remains the same. The only advantage you get is the dividend(if you get in cum div) and the possibility of an upswing since the share will be more liquid. Correct me if am wrong.

What's the point of splitting a share whose market price is around 60 - 70? One could still get 100 pieces for less that sh10k!

I don't see their logic.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

MY BAD!! Read 'my own things'. Well the new stock will now trade at about 17/-.
Dividends will also be a quarter of the current dividends ditto earnings.
Liquidity will definitely improve though.
