So let's keep the game up, the fans, sponsors and big pay days for players will follow. All the same I think our gratitude should go to Supersports. Without them, this game would have been played by big stomached players in small boardrooms and offices. BBI will solve it :)

What is the best way for other clubs to each get a good fan base?

I think its difficult to get a good fan base if you are not successful on the pitch.....Gor and AFC had it easier because of their history. If we get more sponsors involved in club football, we'll be able to retain our top players and also attract quality players such as Serunkuma. Our league should be the best in East and Central Africa. This we'll be able to perform well in the CAF Champions League. Some of the clubs we have in the league rely on the Supersport sponsorship for survival. Oserian were once the best team in the league but collapsed when their sponsorship was withdrawn.

Like i said, our clubs need sponsors or else they'll all collaspe. Hata Gor which has the largest fan base in the country is struggling financially. The club chairman had to dig into his pocket after the sponsor defaulted on paying the salaries of players for the month of September 2012. EABL and Supersport have done a great job but we need more corporates to invest in local football. http://www.goal.com/en-k...a-premier-league-despite

Corporate teams like KCB and Tusker will never build a fan base. Tusker has been around for 4 decades and won many trophies yet has no fans. To put it simply , the public cannot relate to corporate teams. Especially if they are based in Nairobi. KPL will grow when community teams like Nakuru All Stars, Kisumu Lakeside and Shabana make it back to the league. These are the teams that have potential to pull crowds. As for Tusker and KCB, they should follow what Safaricom and Mumias Sugar have done. Instead of playing in the league, they should focus on sponsoring grassroots tournaments.

@ Elba.....I don't think so, we have so many community teams in the league. Most of them changed their name after they got sponsors. Why is it that English clubs have huge fan base outside the UK? The KPL management have to make the league attractive to local fans. They have to invest in the players and also the facilities, this will create interest with the fans and corporates will also want to partner with them. Kitambo people never used to go to Stadiums because of security issues but that changed with the introduction of the Sports Stadia Management Board. I would wish to see adverts or campaigns hyping up KPL games not just the ones that involve Gor or AFC.
