Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

This is the way to go. The time to eat will come. We are still in our most productive years. As long as you have other sources of income, wachana na dividends. Let them work for you. That is why Berkshire Hathaway never gives dividends. They know that the children are better off as slaves!!

Operation turning children into slaves!!! And getting more slaves from elsewhere to assist them!

I joined UNAITAS in August last year. This was "by proxy" as it's my niece who bought the shares in her name. She in turn bought me equivalent shares this year. Question: Were the dividends calculated on pro-rata basis(monthly) or on shares held as at 31-12-2014?

On Shares held as at 31st Dec...

i.e. 8% of 1.44 Billion worth of shares = 114 Million Dividends.

i wish i had known how these dividends are computed. i should have invested in Dec 2014 rather than January 2015 when i went to buy more shares

@guru267 and other shareholders - Are you telling me if I buy shares today or 30th December I will get exactly the same amount of dividend?

I need to know because Unaitas is among the stocks I want to buy this year and if this is the case it can wait till December instead of tying up cash that would be buying other stuff as of now!

Correct. Always a mad rush in Dec trying to lock in those gains. But then again are you in just for returns or want to maximize your gains and investment before closure? Personally I don't know if i will have something to spare come Dec so i just buy when liquidity allows then hopefully will look back and like it

I am a long termer.

But there are three or four stocks that I need to put huge amounts of money in by December. Some are time bound or price changes over time. If I can buy Unaitas at the current prices in December and get exactly the same dividends then it will be the last share I buy this year.

So long as you know when they sell will close that is fine. But do you with certainty know this ?.
