Obama's reaction is knee-jerk and ill-advised.......Putin is much smarter by far.He will divide EU opinion as interests come into consideration.

Laughing out loudly Amusing comments.

C&P

The Euro might just have saved Europe from domination by Putin's resurgent Russia.
By strengthening the German economy through falsely low exchange rates, Germany sustains the economic clout it needs to stand for Europe against Russia. By weakening the Euro-peripheral countries politically, Germany becomes a single strong voice worth listening to from Europe. If you think the EU response is fractured now, imagine what it would have been like as a mere free trade area.
If Germany can sort its energy problem with new supplies from America, she can face off Putin's mafia state with no trouble.
Might even be time to warm up the Leopards. Unlike the Tigers, they'd get to Moscow with the rest of the West behind them.
Then the EU could add Russia back into its fold, and the European family could look outwards, where real enemies are to be found. With Brit finance, German engineering, Russian energy, and, errr, French fashion, we could hold the world to ransom - and look good while doing it.

and some uncomfortable truths from Putin.

He had me at "brit finance"!
What putin said about wall St..
"I would only like to remind you that only a year ago (2008), from this rostrum,
we heard the words of American representatives about the fundamental
stability and cloudless prospects of the US economy. But today, the
pride of Wall Street – the investment banks – have practically stopped
existing. For the past year, they have had to acknowledge losses far
exceeding their profits for the past quarter of a century."
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Who said U.S sanctions wont hurt. Oligarchs in Russia have been added to the list, including:
Timchenko of Volga group of companies
Rottenbergd the influential contractors and Putin's judo sparring partners
Kovalchuk who is Putin's personal banker
Yakunin the president of Russian railways
When David Cameron was asked if Roman Abramovic should be on the list he said no one close to Putin is safe.

Timchenko sold his 43% stake in oil trading giant Guvnor 1 day before his name featured on the sanctions list. Why would he do that if sanctions were having no effect. Chelsea football club will soon be on the market, Abramovich is a worried man.
