So to lose weight and avoid plateaus and move into long term gains one has to start with programming the mind, and lowering what may be called 'energy set points' like simple sugar triggers, anxiety and depression and generate comprehensive diet and exercise plans.
That way, one can be sure of lifestyle changes that will result in beauty, youth, and health. A person's weight is NOT greatly influenced by the hypothalamus. It has other functions. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

For example, the hypothalamus controls food and water intake and mediation of emotional responses. These two functions are related to weight control.

Be ready to lose even more weight. Here, weight is not primarily lost by the energy dispensed while swimming, but the energy used to keep the body warm while in cold water. If you can hack it, take cold showers too. Great for keeping your skin looking young. Next think about fasts. The Muslims are slim and trim for a reason. Hope guys get to avoid the plateaus. Plateau is the stage where, no matter what you consistently do, no results can be seen. Meaning the body has adapted itself to the exercise regime. Its always good to change your exercise patterns, in-tandem to your goals... helps avoid monotony too. That is exactly where I seem to be. Lost the first about 5 kilos pretty fast. Now I am stuck at 86 kg. Interestingly my belly is still getting flatter and my upper body toned from doing push ups and other body weight exercises. My goal is 83 kg. Try something different, cycling jogging swimming gyming etc and come thank me later. I have to say this one is working. I moved to a different exercise regime and I am now down a kilo and a half in about 5 weeks. From what I gathered, once your body gets used to a certain kind of exercise it adapts to it by becoming more efficient. So you burn less energy even when you exercise at the same intensity and the same duration - hence the plateau. I am closer to my target of 83 kilos now, which I hope to make by end month. I am considering pushing it further down to 80 or 78. It all feels so good, except the 1 or 2 minutes right after my alarm goes off in the morning and I know I have to get off my butt and onto the mat. Sema asante ![smile](/Images/Emoticons/msp_smile.gif) But Wah! those weights hapana mchezo 80's, 70's... If you are having issues waking up in the morning=something. One should wake up refreshed and eager for the day. Maneno of not being a morning person means a deficiency of something.

I try to sleep early most evenings but when I don't, prising myself from between the sheets at 4:45 in the morning calls for a generous amount of gumption. Ok. I once read that there is a co-relation between digestion and sleep. More sleep, more time for digestive system to eliminate and rest (one is supposed to eat 2 hrs before sleep to allow for digestion), less weight gain.

From how buggy most are, it must be Microsoft! Whatever is affecting your sleep pattern is linked to the hypothalamus. And, while changing exercise programs may reduce your weight in the short term, your mind may make readjustments that may return your body to earlier weight levels and or create a new plateau.
