I totally agree, we need to keep all our top players....if you look at Man Utd they don't usually spend the kind of money being thrown around by Chelsea and City but then again they have been able to maintain their top players at the club which keeps the team stable and gives them a lot of options in the transfer market. If we maintain the same team and add at least three top players, i'm almost certain we would end our trophy drought.

End of an Era
Dutch striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy retired from professional football on Monday, ending a stellar career that included stints with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

“Yesterday I played my last match as a professional,” Van Nistelrooy, 35, told a news conference.

“I think the moment has come for me to stop playing football — I have reached my physical limit,” he added.

“But there could be no better way to say goodbye than this, in a euphoric moment for the club,” which on Sunday won a place in next season’s Champion’s League with a fourth-place finish in Spain’s La Liga.

During his two-decade career, Van Nistelrooy was crowned top scorer in three countries — The Netherlands, England and Spain.

With 60 goals in the Champions League, he remains that competition’s second-highest scorer, behind Raul of Spain.

To me he was one of the last out and out(box) strikers left in the game. I remember the crowd going "Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudddd "smile

That is quite phenomenal in modern day football.

And Real won the league with a record 100 points!!! d'oh! That even sounds wrong!

I wonder if there's a team that has ever won ALL their league games, in any league! Now THAT would be invincibility.

ION, Tevez throws a jibe at Fergie during their trophy celebrations. Absolutely classless!

The EPL is the most competitive league in Europe that's why no one is talking about Juve's unbeaten run or Real Madrid's record points.

'We know that City are going to spend a fortune, pay stupid money, pay silly salaries and all that. We know that happens. We can't do anything about that.We concentrate on what we can do to try to bring players in for the right reasons. We invest in young players. That is what we are good at - we're not like other clubs who can spend fortunes on proven goods.' SIR ALEX FERGUSON

There's a level of hypocrisy from SAF's statement above, before City and Chelsea came in Man Utd were spending "crazy" money on any player they could get their hands on. Berbatov 30m, Rooney 27m, Rio 27m, Veron 28m, Ruud Van 19m, Carrick 18m, Hagreaves 17m, Anderson 15m etc Whatever City are doing now is exactly what Man Utd did to Arsenal and Liverpool.....Wenger couldn't get any good player at a reasonable price. I think SAF has realized that Man Utd are no longer on top of the "food chain" in terms of attracting top players, here i thought Wenger was the sore loser!

..Fergie will always be a sore looser and it has dawned on him like you said they are not at the top of the food chain anymore. It's Ironical to say the least when Vincent K is penning a new deal to £120k yet Rio is on 200k, Rooney is on 250k yet Aguero is on 200k. You bet City will strengthen the core, Dzeko will certainly leave however reports indicate Ibra wants to go there now thats a signing, with another creative midfielder in Hazard to relief pressure off Silva and one more central defender then they will be formidable. I wonder who Alex is scouting or is it why he keeps on saying they will focus on the youth coz no-one wants ro go there.ohh i forgot even the youth don't want ie Pogba.

You bet your life Chelsea,Arsenal will come back next season and Tottenham so it will be quite interesting.

@smano Tevez god the placard from a fan and he dint know what it actually meant remember he is illiterate like Redknapp lol however he has apologised!

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.
