I don't think its a wise business move to hinge all your expansion plans on Boeing's ability to deliver.
As for cost,yes, Boeing may place a good offer on the table,but damage has already been done. The delays are costing KQ alot.
Your thoughts ?
1) Boeing will definitely blow past the 2013 delivery date coz the 787 are NOT in production mode yet!
2) I am disappointed/surprised that KQ failed to anticipate delays. They should have scrambled to be first in line like Ethiopian who expect deliveries in 2011.
3) The 787s are very different from Embraers (max 4 hour flights). The closest to 787 are the 777s.
4) The lessors dont have many decent/new planes either. KQ will have to make do with older planes which are less fuel efficient.
5) KQ may have no choice but to lease older fuel-guzzlers for 2 years.
6) Another option is to acquire airlines with options for earlier deliveries. Unlikely.
