@VVS, since Boeing keeps breaking promises,im sure something new will crop up and push the delivery date past 2013. Would it be prudent for them to also place an order with Airbus as a fallback plan, get Embraer jets from Brazil or lease from European Aircraft Leasing companies ?

I don't think its a wise business move to hinge all your expansion plans on Boeing's ability to deliver.

As for cost, yes, Boeing may place a good offer on the table, but damage has already been done. The delays are costing KQ alot.

Your thoughts ?

1) Boeing will definitely blow past the 2013 delivery date coz the 787 are NOT in production mode yet!
2) I am disappointed/surprised that KQ failed to anticipate delays. They should have scrambled to be first in line like Ethiopian who expect deliveries in 2011.
3) The 787s are very different from Embraers (max 4 hour flights). The closest to 787 are the 777s.
4) The lessors dont have many decent/new planes either. KQ will have to make do with older planes which are less fuel efficient.
5) KQ may have no choice but to lease older fuel-guzzlers for 2 years.
6) Another option is to acquire airlines with options for earlier deliveries. Unlikely.

Going back to Airbus means crew retraining, so I think Boeing is still a safer bet, even with the delay and fuel savings foregone.

The huge supply @47 has been cleared thanks to foreign trades, and demand turned higher than supply.Holders of this counter could see better fortune as Nov 4 approaches unless the workers at KQ spoil the party.

98% of net buys by Foreigners. Also over 300,000 bought at 47.50 though there is plenty of supply at 50/-...

Yeah,

Let's hope the workers don't spoi the party coz cabin crew seem to have locked horns with top management.
