It is not like that @ hardwood. Look at it this way. For any ordinary salon car, the space between the front seat and the back rest of the back seat is about two and a half feet. The space between the front seat (when it is occupied) is just about a foot. When an adult passenger occupies the back seat, the space available between the front seat and the chest of the passenger is about one and a half foot while the space from the same is less than half a foot to the knee. This is the reason why if any passengers on back seat sitted between other passengers on the right and left hand side want to alight, those passengers on either extreme sides have to alight first in order to avail the necessary manouvring space for the alighting passenger because the space is too small.

Think about that first as we continue to unravel the mystery...

This is my speculation ...

Things were not going well between Sharon and the governor and perhaps each party had threatened the other with all manner of things. To cover her bases, at some point, Sharon contacted Barrack and told him she had a juicy, scandalous story about the governor. However, things started looking iffy for her so she decided to escape to TZ. While there, Mr. Oyamo contacted her and managed to lure her back to KE, probably with promises that the governor's stance had softened. So she decided to come back to KE to meet with Oyamo but because she is a smart lady, she decided to go to the meeting with Barrack - maybe he was to pretend to be a friend of hers.

So Sharon and Barrack get to the market at Rodi Kopany as planned and wait for Oyamo, who calls and finds out that Sharon has come with Barrack. Oyamo decides this might hinder his plans to kidnap her easily (market + 2 people to kidnap + witnesses = chances the crowds will help the two and maybe kill him and his associates). So he suggests a change of location to one which he things will be easier to manage.

So Sharon and Barrack head to the hotel in Rongo and wait for Oyamo. This time he arrives but suggests another location to which they will travel together (this is how he has planned he will get them in a car to kidnap them). Prior to heading out he excuses himself to use the toilet where he makes a phone call letting his associates in the car what the situation is.

Barrack is only caught up in this mess because Oyamo did not know what Sharron had told him already, and there's no way Oyamo could have separated the two without raising suspicion. He also wanted to write a juicy story ... but we can't really blame him for that can we?

That's how this looks to me thanks to the many movies I have watched.

@kanobi, yes that space is very important to an investigator as it may help them to assess the authenticity of the story of the journalist. I am trying to figure out how easily I can swallow a bolus of food with a three inches diameter while my throat can only expand to a maximum of two inches.
Do you know it is also important for the investigator to take the temperature of the corpse in order to determine at what time the murder may have been committed?

Take the temparature of a corpse that has been frozen?
