This days being conned is real.I cant remember how many similar incidences I have encountered of late. A good example; A kenyan was here a short 3months JICA training course.Bought a car and arranged shipping while still here. When he went back No communication from exporter .bankrupcy. Luckly,we had met casually.I got the address and found his car still in the yard and company owner already gone. The Kenyan had to pay extra shipping[kshs 170,000] but got the car in MBS this month.

When dealing with any exporter insist on LC payment .meaning the money will be released upon receiving documents and shipping. Note the address.company can be traced incase of unexpected.Avoid company with mobile phones starting with either [090/080].Above all deal with Tokyo-A reputable native Kenyan with experience of exporting and shipment with the best deals.Whose intergrity is beyond money.

@ Hulky ;Dealing with A Pakistanese exporter in Japan ?a big mistake.give me your email.I provide my contact

Halky you complicate issues yet people are willing to help you. Contacting Japanese police who will need an interpretation of your transactions into Japanese...blah blah...If you take that route arm yourself with patience...it will take long time.

BTW,my friend was in your situation and I applied the approach @ Tokyo is offering you and it worked.

@ Halky,

check your email for my phone no. Please note,Japanese police in Chiba cant help as that is beyond their responsibility/international.They will instead recommend interpol. But you cant contact interpol individually. Rather either through the Kenya Embassy Tokyo or Japan M/V exporters assoc. If you insist on Interpol, contact embassy -0337234006 ask Dorothy.

I think you should be very very worried coz you might have been conned. I will give you a personal experience; August 2008,I bought a car from a Japanese company called Automart Japan just the same way you did. The company then went silent. I wrote to them severally without any meaningful reply. After two months or so,the website was changed. A guy claiming to be a web-designer posted a message saying that it has come to his notice that the company was a fraud and the guys have since taken off. He claimed not to have known the owner of Automart Japan and has himself been conned money owed for service rendered. I came to realize later that many more Kenyans and others from different countries had fallen victim. In fact like my car of interest had been sold to four other people. We reported the matter through the Japanese Embassy and the case was forwarded to interpol but I think the case is as good as closed. see this site; http://blog.japundit.com...chives/2008/12/08/9148/
It is very possible that the same team is also the mastermind of this new one. They simply open another site and continues and it is a big scam ranging from guys in Austria,India and Japan. Sorry bro. My advice; contact the bank where you remitted the money and report your suspension. Buying cars in Japan through the web is no longer safe!

Another thing the sooner you post the name of that company, the better for us all coz these guys who no doubt are con artists will continue receiving remittances from other unsuspecting buyers. Once you report to the bank,a trap can immediately be placed to get them and if they suspect, they will take off probably leaving something in the account that can be traced back to you.

Have it occured to you that if this guy is picking other peoples phone he is still conning other people. Therefore if you mind other guys welfare post the address otherwise if you got him through normal sites like tradecarview then they are also liable cause they should have warned/blocked him from accessing the bazaar site.

There is nothing wrong with posting the company after all they should be communicating but nakutakia viema.they normally delay cause of inspection. But since they are still slow its good you notify us.

@ Hacky - Just like mnjoro said, please visit www.tradecarview.com and check whether the seller is among the blacklisted.

@Candy,

Is there a list of blacklisted dealers on tradecarview or you meant that Halky checks to see if the dealer is listed as a dealer on the site?

I have imported a few cars personally, and I as I was reading all this,I think you would have made things much easier for every one so that we can advice of give personal feelings about the deal. At one point i was getting a car and it stuck in Japan for almost a month before shipping due to reduced business in car export hence less ships available, and they cant send documents before shipment. How long has your been? What is the COMPANY!! Make it easier to get help by giving details,or email me at gachugu@yahoo.com.

..I read you seek assistance/information? but..........You aren't willing to give details:..website..Location..contacts...Names... of the seller....Kwani?

or, I feel probably Halky you now intend to import ....and there4 figuring out the 'what ifs'....and the more Skerians post the more it excites you.....

...i'ts time you come out clean and tell us...the real story...

...this will be my last post on this topic...unless you speak out...

@.all
i respect your views and advise and to an extent i have made progress in this matter thanks to those who gave direct action plan.
currently the guy has responded to my email which i threatened to raise the matter to all the authorities in japan by acknowledging that he hasnt sent the car and he needs 2 weeks to either ship the car or refund back the cash. though this may be as a result of the threat but if he doesnt keep his promise what quick action do you propose i should take?
regards

@Halky,May be the guy importing the car for you is your friend and thats why you don't want to expose him,but want to know the options you can take if sh*t eventually hits the fan.

I've noticed the youth in particular coming in to a workplace with a completely outsized notion of their own value and importance... just a thinly-veiled arrogance. May be the credit crunch induced recession is whats needed to remind us all about the value of hard work.... By Anonymous

@Halky....How did it go for you? I thought Tokyo had offered to help you?

Some deals are like glass. Sometimes it's better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.
