@Magigi and Njunge....Laughing out loudly especially hiyo ya kutoa nguo.

But confidence is all in mastering the subject matter and preparing adequately...maybe you can be "interviewed" by mama watoto or a friend before the real interview and see how you fair...Pray

most peeps get nervous about talking in public places because they can't multi-task.
i.e, most of us can't think, talk, look at the audience and breath at the same time.
what is the solution?
Figure out what you want to say (for an interview, this means practice Q&A).
Breakdown it down into very small sentences like 5 word sentences.
Practice looking at mirror when saying your sentences.
Practice combing your hair, answering the questions and looking at the mirror

If all else fails, get laid. Regularly. Like every night.

@newfarer, I'm a sales trainer and always addressing huge groups of people from all walks of life - nowadays I've become comfortable but it's been through years of doing various forms of public speaking since primary school.

Like sparkly has said, the moment you know your subject content, confidence becomes almost automatic but anxiety will always remain - however, the more you do it the more relaxed you become.

Have someone conduct an interview with you as if it's the true one - despite practicing, you have to learn to be able to speak off the cuff, this will be achieved through dry runs of the interview with a friend.

Muganda has also given you a very good pointer so try it, you've nothing to lose and everything to gain! Good luck

Like sparkly said....be conscious of the standard interview questions, be well groomed and confident on the day and be there in good time, master the names of the panel and address them by name... and be thorough on the subject..if ur qualified, the job is yours.I can easily relate to that. When i went for my current plus previous job interview,a lot of the other candidates for the same job were more qualified than me. I go it.

@New farer: Your brain simply needs to be re-educated into the right sort of reactions for public speaking. Using hypnosis, public speaking can actually become something you enjoy!

You did everything the public speaking books say: You prepared well, got to know your audience, used all sorts of learning tools to reduce uncertainty and fear...

But somehow your brain tripped you up.Try to train your subconcious mind to react appropriately!

@Fundaah: In life our Brains are programmed since we were born and some of the programs in our subconcious mind work against us. for example you will hear people say that money is the route of all evil. what the heck! Do you expect to make money if your subconcious mind knows that money is the route of all evil? you need to change your thinking and the programs in your brain by listenning to positive thing and infact there are programs and books available to change all that!
