@newfarerwithalongname more like interest from ignorant investors. Investing in OCH is no better than flushing your money down the loo. Speculating on it may prove profitable...

@oswaf... Ati nini??? and this is your maiden post on Wazua? Pray ...most LOLlest!!!

Just google the after math the world cup leaves behind once the games end...economies contract serious..see france..see Germany..load of huge infrastructural investments become redundant..one time unsustainable profits..dupe greedy investors..and later stocks tied to these one time events crush big time.
how do you justify sound investment in a company whose perceived benefits are tied to just a month in a whole year? Bytheway..olympia wanabenefit aje?.. hope u haven't associated the name "olympia" to sports/games? Heh heh heh... just kidding. comment yako haiwesmek sense.smile

Thanx anyways.. made my morning.

Olympia says its full year pre tax profits for 2009/2010 is expected to be 40million+ and it has improved its business model(strong diversification), and is almost debt free...

it could be a space to watch for speculative purposes but i wouldn't advise any long time buying because its a relatively small family owned business and these can so easily be shut down or liquidated and accountability is not emphasized that much...

long term investors should really stick to the parastatals and the big multinational companies with equal oppurtunity to avoid having their fingers burnt badly

I got interested in this company when they started their investment foray, buying companies left right and centre. Then it turned out that they had no concrete strategy. SA subsidiaries closed shop etc... Burnt my fingers, cut my losses, left and never looked back. I'm not good at speculating...

@B.Timer; where did you get your information from? You state that it has grown 175% in the last three weeks. That means it was 3bob at the beginning of the month...wacha uongo!

Data on this site shows a 10% increase since 4th Mar [three weeks ago]

@deal. As I recall olympia were counting on the housing market in SA, with most of their products geared toward household finishings, but seems like a complete bust, including their botswana based business.

@the deal i dont think they will benefit that much from the world cup because i dont think they've got any big contracts...

i dont think their reputation is credible enough to get any world cup contract.... they are placing a huge bet on a south African economic recovery....

There has been constant demand & the price is 9.70... no sellers...

When will the results be out (they have till 30 June)?
