@pops sad the KQ report was not made public to kenyans,yes and get it from me that it is even more saddening coz an investigation done on the same was documented and screened on national Geographic TV Channel in their programme Air crash Investigation

@ Renee KQ 507- Douala was indeed a 737-800
KQ 431 Abidjan was actually an A310-304,a variant of the Yemenia that just crashed into the Indian Ocean.
The two similarities were that both were operated by KQ and that both flights - On the ill fated leg- originated from Abidjan.
KQ soon afterwards faced out all it's airbus fleet and replaced with 767-200,which are also due for phase out beginning next year. The replacement will be the B787.
Back to stream,the French aviation authorities are already poiting fingers at the Airline- Ati they have been watching the airline for numerous faults.
Why didn't the say the same about the Air France A330 yet the speed sensors had been recommended for replacement and were the subject a pilot protest? Hawa maburukenge wa mapua refu

Check your facts before starting to jog your jaws....ooops fingers. The KQ 431 (involving an Airbus A310) report is available...Ama ulitaka iwekwe kwa gazeti? I recall studying the report on the same day KQ 507 went into the swamp. The thing is actually available even on the internet.

@ Renee Kindly note that Abidjan is in Ivory Coast and that is where KQ flight 431 (Air bus 301-304) crashed on 30 January 2000.
This is the reason they changed to Boeing...
You must be referring to Doula accident for the flight 507....
check the veracity of your info....

@mali,I dnt thnk any sane man would name his corporation 'airplane Ltd'.....About the speed sensors,I know for a fact most modern kites have an automated ice detection system that activates the heating mechanism on the pitot tubes and/or warns the pilots. Ice formation on the pitot tube can lead to erroneous/zero reading on the air speed indicators,which can easily be detected by a keen but relaxed pilot. The biggest problem would be sudden warnings...Audio sounds,a violently shaking stick/yoke n flashing captions meant to alert crew on low speeds that may statle the crew...the ensuing adrenaline and confusion on noticing low speeds at cruise power settings may lead to mouth agape mishandling and eventual crash! The only reason why some people are still alive is coz its illegal to shoot them!! TULIA.........UFUNZWE!

I think that accidents happen.
If you have ever been lucky to be in the cockpit of a passenger jet,you will realise that before an airliner take of,there are a series of checks and procedures by the pilot and designated ground crew. The check range from checking the weight of cargo and it's distribution,cracks on the airframe (I once noted one near the door one while boarding a XX 737-200 shuttling JKIA-Moi Int.) but it was an 'illusion'- derived from watching too much Air Crash Investigation- I almost went back into the waiting lounge.
almost everything before take off is done using a checklist to mitigate human error. The same happens at landing and most of the time,this is assisted by the ATC,who in Kenya are very competent and can communicate clearly in major languages. This miscommunication has once resulted in a fatal accident involving another A310.
But the safety of the airline also depends on the quality of maitenance( the KQ hangar is one of the best around Africa),weather conditions,runway conditions and health of pilots.
However,I have reason to believe that more fatal accidents have been caused by reasons other than pilot error in Airbus than in Boeing and I personally feel much safer in a Boeing than in an Airbus. Nowadays,airlines (at least KLM does) will give you the itinerary of your flights,including the exact make and model of the aircraft you will be flying on,connecting flights included. so you can even change to avoid being carried in an Airbus,that is if you have an unfounded but yet strong fear of Airbuses like I do. You see,I first flew on an Airbus when I was seven years old and coming back to JKIA,the thing had to attempt three approaches before we finally landed- I never knew the reason but I vividly remeber the taste of my heart. That I was seated next to my equally shaken mum did not help much.
i know i got off the topic,but even aircraft veer off runways sometimes

The question is why AIRBUS and not Boeing? one of them is the inclusion of the work BUS.... BASI... (Citti Hopper of the Air) or its Eldoret express....
Something is still VERY Wrong.... Air BUS.. or its an AIRBAG!

It's all about branding. By the way Citi Hoppa is a stolen name,albeit stolen from an airline's subsidiary to be used on speeding coffins. City Hopper is KLM's shuttle service operated from Amsterdam's Schipol airport using smaller short and mid-range aircraft (Focker 70,Boeing 737-400 upwards e.t.c). These hop to regional cities like Rome,Vienna,Munich,Ljubiljana,Athens,e.t.c.
So just like Zap which is a mobile phone cash transfer service-would pass for a zip manufacturer.
Carnivore is a restaurant- I'm sure you would expect to see a carnivorous animal there!,Pavement is yet another recreation centre/club (you are be sure NOT to spot the sign 'NO PARKING ON THE DANCE FLOOR') and yes Airbus is a passenger jet,although can be used for logistics. See the image of a bus flying and you can understand. You could suggest rebranding..to the Airbus Industrie and British AeroSpace...........
Try Russia's AEROFLOT,Easy Jet e.t.c and you can get more of branding ideas.

And Airbus A380 is yet to begin commercial flights,I shudder to think of a plane carrying 500 people falling off the sky. Airbus should go back to the drawing board,have ALL their planes recalled for check up or whatever will give guys comfort,2 commercial planes crashing in as many weeks is terrible statistics smano BEER IS LIVING PROOF THAT GOD LOVES US AND WANTS US TO BE HAPPY!
