I was counting on independents making a statement in central. They disappointed badly.

Like I had earlier confessed, I will be throwing my hat into the ring in 2022. But the prospect of running in Jubilee under WSR is a frightening prospect.

Feels like 1978 all over again.

My good friend Ngunjiri Wambugu was Rao's most staunch supporter in central in 2013. No other person from central has ever penned so many articles critical of Uhuru and Ruto than Wambugu. Today, he is the Mp-elect for Nyeri town on a Jubilee ticket.

We know Uhuru's political influence starts to decline from today. Who is likely to take the mantle ? And please don't tell me Mwangi Kiunjuri.

You people need to go back to work. Drove to the office in the morning and Nairobi is still empty.

I do not think Central is in a rush to replace Uhuru. There are chances there will be no front runner from Central come 2022 though a point-man or two will definitely emerge. I could be wrong but it is also an attractive prospect.

Funny that western with 2 Nasa principals ended up being Nasa's weakest link. Coast, Ukambani, Kisii (in Nyamira Baba shot himself in the foot by going after Matiangi) held up their end of the bargain fairly well.

We Nasarians must now lie low like an envelope for the next 5 years, the people have decided.

Another Summary of the results

Governors (24 for majority)
Jubilee - 24, Jubilee Friendly - 3
NASA - 18
Independents - 2

Senators (24 for majority)
Jubilee - 24, Jubilee Friendly - 3
NASA - 20

National Assembly (169 for majority)
Jubilee - 25+140=165
Jubilee Friendly - 5+23=28
NASA - 16+110=126
Independents - 1+16=17

Notes
Most independents have allegiance to big parties.
Ford Kenya now pretty much limited to parts of Bungoma. ANC most popular in Western.
Wiper influence less from 2013
Jubilee able to re-elect about half of their defectors.
Lakini sera iko wapi kwa vyama??

We know why NASA has lost so many seats to Jubilee. Cord principals were out in the cold last 5 years and thus their pockets were virtually empty running into 2017 elections. To generate funds to compensate and run the nominations, they could only rely on nomination fees. Therefore, every party under NASA umbrella could not throw away any aspirants, so as to maximize fees. They ended up competing against themselves (what we call friendly fire... and ended up shooting themselves)

Why does the house need an opposition yet the majority prevailed, I would rather the opposition focuses on developing alternative views and not opposing gava for the sake.

Let Kenyan's reap what they sowed for the next 5 years, less politics is what we now need going forward.

Beyond that public face full of bravado, there is intense sibling rivalry if you just scratch the surface...including attempts by individual parties to fetch largest number of MPs so as to get larger share of political party funds, to fetch large number of governors who will clandestinely divert funds to the principals, etc. All this has worked against NASA

You must never lie low. This country may not survive without a powerful opposition. We want to hear noise from the other side whenever we praise the Govt, because we hold no monopoly of ideas.

May I remind you politicians are not our friends per se. The monster called parliament if left unchecked can be great tragedy. We don't need an opposition that opposes for the sake but one that opposes for the right reasons.

I think we have been pushing for majority. It is the result of democracy so let us accept them beacuse that is what the people of Kenya wants. I am for this gava 100%, let us compare notes in 2020 smile smile smile

Weta kwa Senate. I would prefer Mutula Junior here.

Same here, will prefer Mutula jnr. He is balanced, articulate and can reach out to both sides of the house

There are young men with good heads on their shoulders and if they avoid playing dirty and stick to the issues they can do good job of keeping the government on its toes. I am thinking of Mutula Kilonzo Jnr of Makueni, Moses Kajwang' of Homa Bay and Okoth of Kibra.

It should also be a great time for leaders in Jubilee to offer offer constructive criticism from within the party without being blindingly loyal to UK, Ruto or Duale. Jubilee Senator Kang'ata of Muranga and MP Kimani Ichung'wa should step up and release the party from the likes of Moses Kuria and Murkomen. I would love to see a truly independent Parliament.

That depends on whose agenda is being pushed. It will take some time before it happens, but we are on the right tracks.
