Why would a company want to list? I can imagine it only attracts attention and unfortunately in Kenya it only attracts the wrong attention because our journalists are only interested in the net worth of the individuals involved. There is absolutely no incentive for the likes of Mabati Rolling Mills or Bidco or Brookside Dairies to list their companies.
The really successful companies will never list and are actually very silent. I am thinking of a company like Kensalt the guys who make chumvi. I am sure those guys must be the richest people in Kenya. Salt is so cheap that nobody would think of creating competition so they have a near 100% monopoly. The cash flow is solid and constant. People are never too broke to go without salt.
