My take is in English speaking countries, if the country name ends in 'A',they just added 'N'. Hence American, Jamaican, Cuban,Indian etc. About
For China&Brazil I think it's about phonetics.
For those ending in consonant 'L','N'or French dominated, they went with 'ee' or 'ese'.
Etc, Senegalese ,Nepalese, Portuguese, Rwandese,Japanese etc.
