Welcome China to civilization.

It is better to have children than to open the gates for refugees as a labour force ( not that you want to help them ) like German.

borders are an unnatural construct - there is no point of feeling proud over the accident of birth. I think in the future we will have less and less of these controls simply because in a couple of years (not in our life time) the world will look like brazil due to accelerated traveling and thus the 'pure ethnicities will not exist'

on china - the social by products of the 1 child policy will not be easily overturned. picture this. a single child raised by 2 parents who had in turn 4 grand parents who are now living longer will not be motivated to add a second child since they are supporting 6 people already. you know unlike children - the elderly persist and increase in dependence.

There is no such dependency in the current China, majority of families are really well off and sustain themselves due to lack of several commitments...in terms of many children to feed, cloth, medical care, etal.
Think of it!

This is not true @Impunity. The reason why China is a manufacturing giant is because of the availability of cheap labour. There are hundreds of millions of poor people who leave the countryside to work in factories to make phones and socks and underwear for the world. They also send money to support their families in the countryside. The parents and grandparents are relatively well off because they have running water and power in the countryside but they are by no means wealthy. They are also living longer because of better conditions beyond their productive years and this is a time of dependency which can be very trying on families. Imagine a man and wife who stop working at say 70 and start depending on their 45 year old son and then they live to be 95. That is a very expensive 25 years. No income with increasing expenses for medical costs. By the time the parents die the son is 70 with probably little savings.

So... Africa is the second largest continent by Land and Population.... HOWEVER
Both India (1.3 billion) and China (1.6 billion) have more people that the 57 countries and territories we call Africa (1.1 billion)!
A state called Uttar Pradesh with an area that is slightly larger than that of Eastern and Coast province combined had 204.2 Million people in 2012 similar to the 2012 population of Kenya (43), Uganda (36), Tanzania (48), Rwanda (11), Congo (65). Congo alone has more area than All the countries of Western Europe (including Britain).
