I thought TZ's vision is to create a parallel force away from the Coalition of the Willing(COW) trio of Kenya, Uganda and RWanda

Burundi seems to be independent of the intra EAC fights but they are dependent on Tanzania and would most likely fall on TZ side.

So would DRC. Kabila si rafiki ya Kagame. Both Rwanda and Uganda have been accused of funding militia in eastern DRC and looting esp during the second congo war



It will be interesting to see whether things will be any different now that Kikwete is at the helm of EAC

After this Motor Car was spotted in Nairobi, I knew indeed there's so much wealth in DRC.


Our biggest problem in the EAC is Tanzania, followed by Burundi. Burundians need to pull up their socks, their economy is just 3.1B yet their size is just like that of Rwanda.

Somalia has also applied to join the EAC and the Council of Ministers has already approved verification of its application. smile smile
Juba formally applied to join the bloc immediately after gaining independence in July 2011.

DRC will never develop as it is. It has to be subdivied into three countries. African countries should mobilise funds and build the much talked gland Hydro Dam meant to lit the whole of Africa. Prosperity of Subsaharan Africa will come from developed and stable DRC and Southern Sudan.This are the only countries in Africa which can match the Gdp levels of western world without making any effort

The Leopold this is utter crap - only to be practised by those who are either racist or down right evil.

The best thing would be for EAC to get markets working, logistics happening, and HR resources available - in short, create an ecosystem in which market forces draw DRC's wealth to the EAC. DRC will quickly see that they stand to benefit by being close to and collaborating with us

SGR is heading there, wachana na TZ they are more to south than east.Sad


True, Lapsset vision will be to bridge East and West Africa via the Railway.


We should capitalise on west east and south. Either way DRC can be the game changer. Eith 40000MW we just need to import from them.

DRC's wealth is its curse, as long as the effort to survive in DRC is minimal, the people will never develop. And regardless of what we think, minerals do not make a country rich, peoples innovation, industry and education makes countries rich and powerful.
