Ask youreself why PRC does not want them tried here yet those crimes that those rens are accused of were committed here???

I think those guys are in somebody's payroll!!!

These fellows are being charged with being in Kenya illegally and operating "unlicensed radio equipment".

The fraud as far as we can tell did not target Kenyan interests.

Not even the US can threaten China.
Gava is holding out for a sweetener, some big project here or there, or millions deposited in some people's Jersey accounts and then complicated diplomatic legalese will be wrought and the Chinese spies will fly home.
And then we shall accept and move on to the next scandal.
...
I think other spies, may be MI6, Mossad or CIA fingered the Chinese operation and then a tale was spinned that kawaida Kenyan cops stumbled upon them...that would be an interesting plot twist

Most likely scenario...

Very true . The english and israelis dont hide their operstions to the govrrnment even if they dont share the info. Why are the chinese hiding?
Politics is just things to keep the people divided and foolish and put your trust in men and none of them can do nothing for you...

You see @herdsboy those rens were in the country for more than an year and they were fully established within that period and must have been in real business.

These guys within that period must have done alot until the fire.

So it would be naive for the government to just charge them for being here illegally and operating unlicenced telecomms equipment and turn a blind eye on their activities which we are very much interested in!!!

You cannot be sure that if these boys were involved in fraud it could have targeted everyone on earth...it is not hard to make any transfer of money from america or europe or africa to PRC once the cyber criminal gains access to banks accounts through hacking, is it not??

Fraud is an excuse from PRC for Kenya to release those rens...

The devil is in the detail and PRC may know the finer details of these boys activities which makes them dangerous on being convicted here or on their continued stay here...

...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

You make too many assumptions that cannot be backed by fact.

On their current charges, maximum punishment is five years in prison and deportation. Even a chicken thief in our judicial system gets more.

If these fellows really are agents of a foreign government then that certainly would be the primary charge brought against them.

I am trying to look beyond what I can see...

You are seeing some fellows who were arrested and will be charged for being in the country illegally...Me, I am seeing some individuals who have illegally spent more than an year in Kenya carrying out some illegal activities (the focus for any functional government would be for those illegal activities)...

You are seeing some fellows who will be charged in court for possessing unlicenced telecomms equipment...I am seeing some fellows who possessed some unlicenced telecomms equipment which they have been using to carry out some criminal activities related to cyber crimes (the focus here would be for the government to know to whom all the data and voice including video files were being sent to who and why)

If there has been intensive communications between Kenya and PRC, you will not know anything since the bigger guy wants it to remain a secret affair...like somebody said, could be these rens were busted by other agents and may be PRC knows it, but would not want it to be known that her agents had been picked out...

My only question to you @herdsboy...what do you think those boys were doing in Kenya for more than an year and what were they doing with those equipment...forget about fraud in china committed in Kenya...
...besides, the presence of a safe alone does not signify that there is money inside...

Ilobi is a hub for many things, including intel agencies, and the 76 were the ones from prc, so hawa si fraudsters hata dakika moya.
In any case if they are fraudsters Beijing should provide info to help secure convictions here.
Likely they were spyin on some western ops, and the western guys fingered them to +254 counter-intel jamaas.
Methinks it has nothing to do with us, ours was just a playing field for some international intel. ops, now we are the focus.
I say use the 76 as a bargaining chip - for discounted prices on chengdu J-20s to replace our antique F-5s,ha!

Check, but don't take with a pinch of salt, what this conspiracy theory says below:
