In using the term ‘the Levant’, ISIL means to include Lebanon and Jordan and Palestine to the fullest extent possible, stretching right down to the Sinai peninsula.
ISIL means to impose austere, severe Koranic Sharia law everywhere in its control. This Islamic state would be led by a supreme religious and political leader, known as a ‘caliph’.

No space for Israel here! Yerp. Levant region comprises Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Cyprus and Southern Turkey. Boko Haram kidnapped the girls, the world took note. ISIL took Anbar, seized Ramadi, the provincial capital and now the fall of Fallujah, a restive city less than an hour from Baghdad, is their "Boko Haram" moment. As long as Saudi Arabia and Israel are okay. the west need not worry much. The radicals can be left to sort out their sectarian differences. Sharia law or whatever. The West will only get involved again if and when the radicals launch attacks on them again ala 9/11
Further more, they seem to be the only ones who think there is some religious backing to their claims... The Jews have their version as well and so do the Christians.
Funny enough all predict victory for the own and defeat for their enemies.
So far, 500 years, the Jews seem to still be at the top.
Due to their intolerance and launching attacks in Europe as well.. the right wing radicals have started having enough (UKIP etc). Watu warudi kwao. there is only so much a host can accept even when they prophesy freedom and tolerance.
Goodness, they are now claiming China as well and want to bomb 1 billion mandarins.

ISIS will find Baghdad a lot harder to take than other cities on resistance from the Shia militias who'll get Iran &US support.
A Shia v Sunni war looms. If your family is working there as contractors, they better be on their way out.

If Israel is threatened in any serious way, either the US redeploys in the middle east again in even more numbers or a nuke shooting war is likely to be triggered. Israel is fait accompli, trying to reverse what the Brits did will lead to World War 3. Guaranteed.
