Unless Uhuru is insecure, dont see a problem. Also, letters are not the only means to communicate. RAO can call Cameron weekly and there is bot much anyone can do.

In any case, I think farmers should just let go of this UK miraa thing. It is a lost cause. Trying to overturn it is a waste of money. Politicians are just playing them. UK will not change its laws to accommodate a non-essential product that they now consider unhealthy. Time to look for new markets or explore other options.
All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.

99% of miraa consumers and traders in the UK are somali immigrants/refugees. One of the main concerns to UK govt has been that the profits are being used to fund terror groups back in somalia. Msungu is also unhappy that most of the somali refugees/immigrants, many who are on state welfare, spend considerable time chewing miraa in groups and this could be avenues for radicalisation and other social problems. Also since miraa is banned in rest of europe, the UK was being used as the base from which to illegally smuggle the herb into europe. Msungu also detests the alien culture of miraa chewing and would look for any opportunity to ban it.

when the coffee markets and prices collapsed few years back, the people of Kiambu uprooted the plant and used the land for other businesses. The ban of Miraa is not an end to WaMeru...they should think of other things to do with their fertile land.

There are no somalis in shaina. Interesting to note that even in the west, the locals don't consume miraa only somali, Ethiopian, yemeni and E African immigrants.

Copy that.

Even in Rift.Farmers are now moving away from maize that seems jinxed and trying out passion fruit and other crops.

Life always has alternatives and when one fails you try another.Wameru ni werevu and they will adopt to the change.

Apples,Bananas, pawpaw, Moringa etc are cash crops that do well in Meru and environs and have health benefits relative to Miraa.
Love is beautiful and so are those who share it.With Love, Marriage is an amazing event in ones life time, the foundation of joy, happiness and success.
