If we abolish the Senate and county governments, we should be ready for the high octane politicking and position jostling for the legislature and the presidency that will come with it, and, it will be very draining.

It will be less than the politicking and jostling at the county level for governor+deputies, MCA's, and all other newly-created administrative positions!

You've more than hit the nail on the head. That's it!

So, which constituency should we get rid of? Who will bell the cat?

We should have 8 counties: former provinces.

Scrap the useless senate.

Reduce the no. of MPs. Do some of those guys ever make any contributions?

My work takes me to some of the county HQs. These places are full of mediocrity! Guys in suits just reading newspapers or sauntering.

You're currently represented by Governor, his dep., a senator, an MP, an MCA. And a woman rep! What the hell were we thinking!?

In theory. In reality, can't work wont work. They will be too powerful for the comfort of someone.

It's not about getting rid of some and retaining others, it's about redrawing the boundaries afresh. Starting on a clean slate.

Get rid of Senate.
Reduce MPs
Maintain the Governors. The only problem here is we elected dimwits just because they were in your party.Next time things will be different I can assure you when you look at your County & visit say Machakos.
Again....it brings cake sharing close to you & you can prioritize projects instead of central government (& Prezzos kitchen cabinet) deciding whats good for you.

Some of those were too expansive. I'd go for the option of for instance chopping off the former N.E into three, R.V into 3 or 4, Eastern into 3 or 4 units.

I agree with those saying we are over-represented and that these are clearly not teething problems.

These counties are drawing us deeper into our ethnic cocoons while the rest of the world looks for ways to integrate its different parts. Yaani we're going backwards.

I actually believe the National Assembly is the one that needs to be abolished and its powers/ duties transferred to the Senate. What harm is there in having 47 large constituencies? Parliament would thus become a prestigious and exclusive institution. Only those with enough money and political clout will make it there. Maybe they will have less of an urge to loot the public coffers through fat salaries.

The MCAs can remain but we should have the same number as the previous councillors.

It is.Redraw/Amalgamate/Resize. A constituency/constituencies will have to go. After the debate guys had prior to the formulation of constituency boundaries and equal vote representation i.e Central Kenya vote distribution vs North Eastern Kenya, guys wont let go of a constituency easily.
