India's deupty counsul general to the United States obtains work visa for female housekeeper saying she's to be paid $30 per hour.

India's diplomat is arrested on Thu on visa fraud charges, as she dropped her daugher in school, for allegedly paying the nanny only $3 per hour. The 39 year old lady is held in a cell with drug addicts, strip searched, and eventually released after posting bond.

India is furiousss, diplomatic war
India government retaliates by summoning US ambassador and US diplomats, stripping them of identification cards and diplomatic benefits, removing security barriers outside US embassy in New Delhi.

In fact, India government is so upset, they're looking for more revenge tactics...

Deputy consul general? Fraud or no fraud that is a very high ranking official. Kwani how silly is law enforcement huko? India is an emerging new industrial and military power with battleships, a nascent jet fighter industry and nuclear weapons, they will want to show the US wao si nyenje ...John Kerry will have to get involved to cool tempers

Everyone bows to the american$, bar the iranians or the russians - nothing much the indians can do, had it been the other way round, there would have been a prison break and the next thing the diplomat would have landed safely in the states.

China,Kim Jong Un and North Korea don't give a damn

Yeah, the staple food for North Koreans is grass, same stuff your cow/mbuzi eats.

I wouldn't quote that failed state as someone to look up to.

He he he...

Didn't we loudly protest, when Joshua Walde, a US Embassy employee in Nairobi, rammed into a matatu and killed a man and injured 9 others, and was the next day flown out of Kenya to the US?

Well, I wouldn’t consider n.korea a failed state - from the little news that comes out, the state seems to be very well organized and in control.
but its one of the few countries that so far the americans can not push around.

From time in memorial a messenger is never treated badly, if they mis-behave you summon them and ask them to go back home - otherwise its seen as an affront to the one who sent the messenger.

Perhaps you should watch the recent documentary on BBC where ex-Northerners smuggle out videos shot on cellphones and showcase them.

You'd take back the well-organised and in control bits.

I loved the scene of the cop slapping a woman for wearing trousers, and see the woman fight back...

So Indian diplomat was asked to leave US. Ironically her maid and her family now resident in the US.

At the end of the day, it is clear that she unfortunately carried inhuman treatment of maids (as must frequently happen in both India, Kenya) to a first world country.

Meanwhile in India, American expatriates, who are also often guilty of presuming superiority and disrespecting local ways are forced to forego bowling, beer, swimming, no fines.

So human beings in all hemispheres guilty of abusing 'diplomatic immunity'.

There is much heat and smoke but little light in this case ...
Other publications claim that the maid got some other work (was denied permission) then disappeared. An Indian court issued a warrant for the maid's arrest and blackmail threats emerged. Yet others say the maid is 'gaming the US system' to gain asylum based on Human Trafficking regulations .
Her husband and children are said to American citizens. This is complex!
I wonder why both the US and Indian governments have dug in so hard?
Following the developments ....
