How capiroo heard it

How they reported itRink : -==>Midiwo: let's do away with devolution

not exactment

he said:
". . .Speaking during the funeral service of former Juja MP George Thuo, Midiwo said the wage bill occasioned by devolution cannot be sustained.

“This country cannot afford 47 governments plus the national one. This country cannot afford over 400 members of Parliament, this country cannot afford the numerous MCAs (Members of the County Assemblies),” he put forth.

The opposition-allied Member of Parliament went on to guarantee President Kenyatta – who was present – his unwavering support should he decide to take his advice.

“I want to request you to begin the debate. We shall support you. We shall support your government to sort out the mess we got ourselves into,” he pledged.

It is however unclear who, “we,” is as Midiwo’s party leader, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has made it abundantly clear that his loyalties lie with the county governments.

I concur. Meanwhile his boss continues to whine that the govt is anti-devolution and that the money counties are getting is insufficient

The wage bill is just an excuse for doing away with devolution; and a weak one at that.

Before the new constitution the government didn't do much with it's lower wage bill.

@tycho in case you missed the memo as from March 4th there is a new Sheriff and Deputy in Town
and they have how many cabinet secretaries again?

hiyo ya spiralling wage bill ask Pamba and Kefake how many ministries and parastals did they create?

Memo no 2 Uhuruto created a task force that has recommended drastic reduction in these nonsensical guzzlers of GoK money

Kenya can not sustain 47 counties and bloated National Assembly.
I was of the opinion we need 5-10 counties with more power and responsibilities

@Siringi, what matters most is what the Sheriff and those who dine with him want devolution to work or not. Personally, I'd want devolution to work, and I always see that there is at least a way the wage bill can take care of itself and even keep the government solvent.

Devolution is a great thing if approached correctly, especially when it comes to having a more powerful and productive 'Wanjiku'.

As for Midiwo and C. they have the intentions of increasing their power, but at whose expense?
